editor's note poka-dot  HAPPY NEW YEAR FLASHERS!

I love the ushering in of a new year! Why? I suppose it is because of the new hope and clean slate that ride in on its coattails.  I challenge you to think of 2012 as a block of fresh, moldable clay  that beckons you to become an artist. Your project? ...To create a masterpiece out of the year that awaits you. You can make as much or as little of it as your imagination, courage, determination and commitment will allow. Set your goals  high and don't give up on them! Never give up!  At the end of the year you will be amazed at the masterpiece that you have created! I invite you to  enjoy this poem that hung in our home  when I was growing up.  I love it to this day and  hope it will serve as inspiration for you to stay true to the resolutions, goals, projects and perhaps the pursuit of your own 'Bucket List'. ENJOY  a wonderful year and good luck with your masterpiece! ....Just a reminder that we will be back next week with a complete issue of FLASH that will  have some new things in store for our wonderful FLASHERS! Thank you and HAPPY FLASHING in 2012!

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,

     But, he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
     Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
     On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
     That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
     At least no one has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
     And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
     Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
     That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There  are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
     There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
     The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle it in with a bit of a grin,
     Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
     That "couldn't be done," and you'll do it.
