Have you ever had an experience with a service or product that was disappointing? Perhaps you made the declaration, "I'll never buy anything from that company again."   

 

Perhaps you had a uniquely bad experience, not at all representative of what the company regularly provides.

 

You have past customers and some prospects who feel the same way about your company right now. You can call all you want; they won't answer the phone. You can visit and they won't see you.

  

I once had a customer, much earlier in my career, who threw my employer's professional service provider out of their mill. Yet every time I went by that mill I stopped. I started with the guard--gave him a coffee cup. That is as far as I got with that first visit. Eventually I worked my way back in and won a major contract. It took three years.

  

In today's rapidly paced world, three years is a long time. And, back in the day when I had the experience described above, the only way to communicate was through print magazines, telephone, fax and in person.

  

Today we have the internet and rapid distribution of information. Paperitalo Publications is publishing new material each day, and, more importantly, key decision makers are reading it. Most print magazines have been forced to reducing their publication schedule to once every other month.

  

We can't promise we can shorten the three year cycle I described above, but logic says that placing your message near information that people are reading each day should shorten this cycle.
