Media Advantages and Limitations

The right venue for advertising is a most important consideration when you have decided to advertise.  Obviously, some publications provide more exposure and better service than others.

Printed news publications, both newspapers and magazines, have declined radically in circulation, number of pages and revenue from advertising.  Many have gone out of business and those still in print are struggling.  This is not speculation or opinion; it is fact.  According to a Pew Research Center study of public media consumption between 2000 and 2012, the number of Americans who have read news from the previous day in a newspaper is down from 47% to 23% and magazines are down from 26% to 18%.  The decline of print media is due in large measure to global access to the Internet and to the proliferation of desk top and lap top computers and hand-held devices capable of connecting to the Internet.  In 2013, The Pew Research Center found that 50% of the public got its news from online sources.

Paperitalo Publications are issued only online. We do not print them; we make them available to a global audience through the Internet.

Paperitalo Publications are pulp and paper industry specific, with an audience of professionals in the industry. The content in our online publications covers all facets of the industry, reaching key individuals based on field and position. By comparison, a magazine cannot guarantee this type of audience with the accuracy of an online publication.

As an online publisher, we provide "24/7" accessibility for our readers. Paperitalo Publications receive over 20,000 touches, or "hits," per day (or night).  A magazine that publishes once a month or once every two months, cannot have this type of reach.

We also produce the only online radio program dedicated to the pulp and paper industry. Pulp & Paper Radio International is rapidly growing in popularity. With over 10,000 listens a month and a growing audience, your commercial announcement on Pulp & Paper Radio International absolutely will reach a major portion of your target audience.

Again by comparison, there are significant readership limitations when it comes to advertising in a magazine.  The assumption with advertising in a magazine is that readers will see and read your advertisement. But there is no way to influence what a reader will and will not read--or even see--in a magazine.

Advertising in a trusted industry news source gains more credence for the advertiser from readers and listeners.  Paperitalo Publications has worked for more than 10 years to develop a reputation as a highly professional, completely dependable, content-driven source of industry news.  We are continually ranked highest among industry publications.  Our advertisers are accorded more credibility because of the respect we enjoy in the pulp and paper industry.

"Paperitalo" (pop-er-ree-towel-o) is Finnish for "Paper House."  We produce and distribute, electronically only, many publications dealing with all matters in the pulp and paper industry worldwide.  You can see a list of these here.  Additionally, we broadcast live, and in podcast form, from  Pulp and Paper Radio International.

Our print publications are the highest ranked publications in the pulp and paper industry worldwide according to alexa.com.  We publish our and our major competitors' Alexa rankings each Monday here.

We currently experience around 20,000-plus clicks, or as we like to call them "touches", every day from around the world.  This means on average, every minute of every day, slightly more than 14 people choose to click on to one of our publications or podcasts.
