Greetings!
January is all about clean slates, fresh starts and new beginnings. We resolve to "get it right this time," to make this year's effort the one that sticks, and yet the memories of failed past attempts haunt us like ghosts in the shadows.
I invite you to a new perspective on your resolutions this year.
Whatever didn't work in the past, whatever you think you shouldn't be doing/eating/drinking, whatever has haunted you for more than one January past, please, please, please, forget about it. Stop giving it the energy and fuel to keep resurfacing in your life.
Instead, try something new. If your resolution has to do with improving your health, weight, or state of mind, for example, then start thinking about the kinds of things you would be saying if you were already at your goal. Give those thoughts the fuel to rocket right into your life.
You'd probably be spouting phrases like:
I feel so good about myself I really look great I love how much energy I have I make great choices because I love feeling great It is easy to be here I am so happy
You see, the real secret to success is in focusing as much time, energy and thought on these (notice they are all things you DO want) and not on what's wrong with you, what you hate, and what you DON"T want to see in your life. Contrary to what most of us think, you have to be happy FIRST, and then you can lose the weight, quit the habit, control the cravings.
Every time you get caught in the trap of noticing something that you do not like about yourself, (you'll know because it feels really lousy somewhere in your body: refer to the pit in your stomach or the lump in your throat), THANK yourself for reminding you that your focus is in the wrong place, and switch it immediately to something positive about yourself. You'll notice the different feeling in your body right away - it automatically feels better to think well of your life.
Can't think of anything? How about:
I am in a state of transition (hey, now that sounds exciting!) I am moving forward toward my goals I have really great __________ (hair, eyes, legs, etc.) I feel better already I love myself enough to stop hurting myself
Sound radical? Maybe that's just what you need to make a change that is actually permanent. Give it a try. The worst that can happen is you may actually have to think of a different resolution for 2013.

Fresh start smoothie
1/2 frozen banana 1/2 cup frozen raspberries 2 large handfuls baby spinach or kale (stems removed) 1 handful goji berries 1 tbsp chia seeds 2 cups filtered water or pure coconut water
Mix in a blender until completely smooth, adding additional liquid if necessary.
*Look for coconut water that is 100% pure, unflavored, and not from concentrate
