Literacy DuPage, established in 1972 is a vibrant,
community-based, nonprofit organization committed to offering adult language
instruction and support to DuPage County residents with limited English
proficiency. Our core one-on-one tutoring program serves 500 residents annually
through 400 committed volunteers, many of whom have dedicated more than five
years of service to Literacy DuPage. An additional 300 adults are served
annually at 11 DuPage County libraries through our free English conversation
groups.
In total, Literacy DuPage programs are implemented in 35 communities in
DuPage County, offering long-term solutions and independence for our learners
who are empowered to advocate for themselves and their families, read with
their children, become more employable, pursue additional education, navigate healthcare,
and fully engage in their communities.
