~Allman Brothers

Greetings!

Greetings to YOU and Warm Spring Welcome to our new Subscribers!

Have you ever heard the phrase "put your heart and soul into it"?  How about "follow your heart"?  As empowered busy women we want to work smarter not harder while making a positive difference, yet we can get so caught up in doing, running and pushing to accomplish our daily tasks that we get out of touch with our passion and purpose.

We can miss the quiet whispers of spirit that will help lead us unless we make an intentional effort to be mindful and listen to the message from our hearts.  Resilient high achievers know in order to to stay focused, productive, and positive they must step out of the fast lane on a regular basis to connect in with their inner wisdom.

Once we stop to listen, though, it doesn't take long to realize just how many of your thoughts are in opposition.  How confusing!  One part of you is gentle and encouraging, yet another is critical and tries to sabotage your efforts.  It's like you're being pulled in two different directions and may even find yourself saying one thing but doing another!  (Ever decided to make a healthy change like eating less sugar then all you can think of is hot fudge sundaes?).  The "Ego Vs. Spirit Synergy Success Quick Tips" below will help you move through this confusion so it's easier to recognize the difference between Ego and Spirit (Soul) guidance when making decisions.

The ego has a totally different agenda than Spirit!  It's the part of your mind that says things like:  "Yeah, but..." and "What if..." and "I can't because...".  It's about resisting change because it is afraid which keeps us playing safe. If we play safe we stay small, not fulfilling our purpose and the world misses out on the gifts we are meant to bring to others.  And the world really needs what we're here to offer!

May you follow your spirit and let your Soul shine,

Christina

"Ego Vs. Spirit Synergy Success Quick Tips"

The language and guidance between your Ego and Spirit are VERY opposite!  Here's how you can more easily recognize the difference:

The Spirit is...

  • Loving
  • Nonjudgmental
  • Calm
  • Forgiving
  • Compassionate
  • Collaborative~ Creates Win/Win situations
  • Friendly and Positive
  • Tolerant
  • Grateful
  • Focused on the Solution
  • Encourages growth and expansion

The Ego is...

  • Fear-driven
  • Judgmental
  • Anxious and Frustrated
  • Unforgiving
  • Competitive
  • Creates Win/Lose situations
  • Friend-less and Cynical
  • Impatient and Rushed
  • Pretentious
  • Focused on the Problem
  • Afraid of change and Risk

Spirit (soul) guidance

has a mature tone and content, the same message consistently, talks about your life purpose, wants you to take action now, usually says "you" (speaks in second person), has a loving energized feel to it that seems to be heart-centered, sounds supportive and motivational, is very direct and to the point, and comes suddenly in response to request or any type of prayer.

Ego guidance has childish tone and suggestions, switches topics frequently, delays happiness for "some day when", is sneaky and spiteful, uses the word "I" (speaks in first person), drains your energy leaving you exhausted, makes you feel cold and fearful with heart pain or headache, uses abusive and critical words, worries a lot, and loves to compare you with others.(Yes, this is our "inner mean girl!)

Remember, every moment we make a choice (whether it is conscious to us or not), to give our power and best energy to things of the Spirit or our Ego.  This story from Marci Shimoff's book "Happy for no reason" sums this up perfectly...

  • "One evening a Cherokee elder told his grandson about the battle that goes on inside of people.  He said "My son, the battle is between the two 'wolves'  that live inside us all.  One is Unhappiness.  It is fear, worry, anger, jealousy, sorrow, self-pity, resentment and inferiority.  The other is Happiness.  It is joy, love, hope, serenity, kindness, generosity, truth and compassion."  The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"  The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Are you with me in choosing to feed the one that leads to spirit-centered happiness?

Great Quotes!

You have the need and the right to spend part of your life caring for your soul. It is not easy. You have to resist the demands of the work-oriented, often defensive, element in your psyche that measures life only in terms of output -- how much you produce -- not in terms of the quality of your life experiences. To be a soulful person means to go against all the pervasive, prove-yourself values of our culture and instead treasure what is unique and internal and valuable in yourself and your own personal evolution. -Jean Bolen

Our souls are not hungry for fame, comfort, wealth or power. Those rewards create almost as many problems as they solve. Our souls are hungry for meaning, for the sense that we have figured out how to live so that our lives matter, so that the world will be at least a little bit different for our having passed through it. -Rabbi Kushner

"Your soul knows the geography of your destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey." -John O'Donohue

I believe that to nurture my soul and to fulfill my soul's

purpose, I must learn from every event in my life. I must come to realize that every experience has within it a seed of a tremendous gift -- a soul gift -- some new gift. -John Gray
