Greetings!

Greetings to YOU and a Warm Welcome to our new Subscribers!

Ever notice how easy it is to put off celebrating your success until you've finally reached your end goals?  Whether it's eating healthier 100% of the time, exercising 5 times a week, losing 10 pounds, or finishing a college degree, there's always another step right in front of you so it seems you can't afford to slow down.  Even if we've made healthy changes in our diet, exercised 3 times this week, lost 7.5 pounds, and are only 1 class away from getting that diploma, we often choose to focus on how far we have to go instead of how far we've come.

It's easy to push ourselves harder and harder to achieve success without celebrating where we are at each step along the way.  We look around and compare ourselves to how others are doing... (Interesting how we compare our worst to everyone else's best, and never feel we have enough because there's always someone who has more!)

With the holidays just around the corner, this issue holds reminders to slow down and appreciate where we are in this moment, because our enthusiasm to reach our goals may dwindle if we don't take time out for rest and reflection.

I know with such a busy life, taking time out to nurture your body, mind, and spirit can seem impossible, but one practical way to do just that is by taking a few minutes to get off to a peaceful start in the morning.  It will do wonders for your outlook for the rest of the day!

I love to take 10 minutes to stretch, light a candle, sip my favorite tea, and capture what's going well in my gratitude journal.  What are you especially happy about?  A positive tone will keep you focused on Giving Thanks for progress, not just perfection!

Here's to having a GREATful attitude,

Christina

The Simple Joy of Living from a Grateful Heart

If you look to others for fulfillment,

you will never truly be fulfilled.

If your happiness depends on money,

you will never be happy with yourself.

Be content with what you have;

rejoice in the way things are.

When you realize there is nothing lacking,

the whole world belongs to you.

Inspirational Success Story!
Cathy Leitner with daughter Janine celebrating
at the 10-K Finish Line!
Cathy
Estate Planning Attorney Cathy Leitner has a great message for all of us when it comes to setting new goals and going for your dreams... "Don't wait until everything is perfect, just do it and enjoy every step of the journey!"

She's certainly kept her New Years resolution to be happier, healthier, and stronger in 2010 - taking first place in a 12 week "Biggest Loser" competition at the Wellness Center that ended in March, then entering it again to finish a strong 4th in September.

Looking for a new personal challenge, she set her sights on training for the Tufts Women's Health Plan 10K in Boston with her daughter Janine. In spite of the fact that she had not yet completed 6.2 miles at one time before, a fear that she might finish dead last or that she might be laughed at, she stepped out and stepped up to exceed her own expectations.

"My goal was to face my fear and do it anyway, have a good time and enjoy being with my daughter, and I did!  In the past I would have held myself back."

It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of Cathy's journey for the past few months.  Her courage, determination, and passion for celebrating each success- no matter how small- is nothing short of transformational for everyone around her.

"My next 10K goal will be to beat my last race time and have a great time doing it."  Her personal philosophy to "compete with herself but collaborate with others" gives her unstoppable momentum.

Please join me in congratulating Cathy for her accomplishments.  Way to go Cathy!

SLOW DANCE

by inspirational writer David Weatherford

Have you ever watched kids on a merry go round? Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?  Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?  Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You Better slow down.  Don't dance so fast.  Time is short.  The music won't last.

Do you run through each day on the fly?  When you ask "how are you"? do you hear the reply?  When the day is done do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head?

You Better slow down.  Don't dance so fast.  Time is short.  The music won't last.

Ever told your child, We'll do it tomorrow?  And in your haste, not see his sorrow?  Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die, 'cause you never had time to call and say Hi?

You Better slow down.  Don't dance so fast.  Time is short.  The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere, you miss half the fun of getting there.  When you worry and hurry through your day, it's like an unopened gift...Thrown away.

Life is not a race.  Do take it slower.  Hear the music before the song is over.
