"It doesn't matter where you are coming from.
All that matters is where you are going."

~Brian Tracy
Greetings to YOU and a Warm Welcome to our new Subscribers!
On my desk sits a mug that says "Life is all about how you handle plan B".  You may be saying "isn't that for sure!" and I ditto that, as in the last month I've been living in "plan B"...
I had a hysterectomy mid July and almost didn't make it. Signifigant bleeding complications required a second surgery, 9 units of transfused blood, and many additional days in the hospital.  The path of my recovery has included a setback with pyelonephritis, (a kidney infection) which was treated with another several days of IV antibiotics in the hospital, but now I'm home and doing very well.
A bundle of emotions, thoughts, and feelings surround this whole event and I'm so grateful to be alive to tell my story, to continue enjoying my wonderful family, friends, and a business that I'm passionate about.  It is clear to me that I'm not done here yet!  This whole experience has strengthened my resolve to make a difference and also opened an opportunity to "flip" what has happened into something positive.  This is just a snapshot but in time I know I'll see the bigger picture.
Needless to say I'm easing into a reduced work schedule and embracing the priority of self-care with lots of naps, surrounded by positive energy, good food, great friends, and a fresh appreciation for so many little things!  It is so easy to take things in our lives for granted isn't it?
In this issue I share some "Synergy Guiding Principles" that help me each and every day, and are especially useful in showing grace in times of adversity.
Today I invite you to remember the little things are the big things, and that life is a precious gift.  Is there something you are taking for granted that you can give thanks for?  Please take a minute to count your blessings...(and remember even your biggest struggles hold many blessings!)

Synergy Guiding Principles
These Poems and Prayers serve as a compass to guide my personal philosophy, and allow me to start my day with a clear intention of who I want to be regardless of the circumstances.  I hope you enjoy them.
 The Sereniy Prayer
God Grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
And wisdom to know the difference
Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
And where there is sadness, joy.
O divine master, grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love
For it is in giving that we receive-
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Love Them Anyway
(A favorite of the beloved Mother Teresa)

People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.

Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish motives.

Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies.

Succeed anyway.

The good you do may be forgotten tomorrow.

Do good anyway.

Honest and frankness can make you vulnerable.

Be honest anyway.

The biggest people with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest ideas.

Think big anyway.

People favor underdogs but follow top dogs.

Fight for the underdogs anyway.

What you spent years building may be destroyed overnight.

  Build anyway.

People who need help may attack you if you help them.

Help them anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you may get kicked in the teeth.
Give your best anyway. ~ Kent Keith
