Information About Your Colon

Throughout our lives we consume food that often does not move through the body very quickly. When we don't properly digest, the waste matter builds up in the digestive system clogging the cells, tissues and pathways there.

As we get older more of these toxins build up in the intestines. This waste gets baked (because your body is at 98.6) onto the intestinal wall. It is like a bag of food sitting in the sun at 98.6 degrees.  You can image how gross that gets.

As a result of this bake on fermenting food you become acidic. The protective barrier of good bacteria is compromised by these toxins further preventing good digestion from occurring.  Soon the intestines are clogged.

I have read the average 30 year old American can have 10-15 lbs of hardened fecal matter caked along the sides of their bowel. This has a direct effect on your weight and energy as well as your acid levels which will affect every organ in your body. The intestines have to keep the pathway clear.

In order to make room the waste gets absorbed into the intestinal walls and then into the cells of the body which are on the other side of the intestinal wall.  The toxins enter the bloodstream and then the kidneys, liver and other organs resulting in more serious conditions. In order to remove the waste material from the cells of your organs you have to first remove the built up waste matter in your intestines.

This is why we cleanse,  This is what this cleanse is all about.  Getting the waste out of your intestines first and then as you get a clean digestive system the waste from the other cells can enter into this clean digestive system to be removed. It is a process. As you do this your pH levels will be back in balance.

In the Nourishing Foods Cleanse Jan14-18 we will be bring in lots of alkaline food that is easy to digest.  I will guide you through testing you pH levels daily so you see exactly how your body is responding.  When you want to manage something it helps to measure it.

Radicchio and Cauliflower Salad

2 servings

1 small head radicchio (about 1/3 lb)
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Celtic Sea Salt
1 small cauliflower cored and cut into 1-inch florets ( about 4 cups)
1 medium clove garlic
1 Tb apple cider wine vinegar
1 Tb fresh lemon juice
2 tsp Dijon mustard
Freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup coarsely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley

  • Remove any damaged outer leaves from the radicchio, quarter it, remove the core, and cut each quarter crosswise into 1-inch widths.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Cook the cauliflower in the boiling water until just tender, about 3 minutes.
  • Drain, spread on a plate to cool, and set aside at room temperature.
  • Put the garlic in a mortar, add a pinch of salt, and pound to a paste with a pestle. Or mince and then mash to a paste with the side of a chef's knife.
  • Combine the garlic, vinegar, lemon juice, and mustard in a small bowl.
  • Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Whisk in olive oil until emulsified. Taste with a piece of radicchio and season with more vinegar or salt if necessary.
  • Put the cauliflower in a large bowl and season with salt and pepper. Gently toss with just enough vinaigrette to lightly coat.
  • Add the radicchio and parsley, season with salt and pepper, and toss again with just enough vinaigrette to lightly coat. Taste and add more salt or vinaigrette if necessary.
  • Pass around the remaining vinaigrette when you serve it.
