PMI Educational Foundation Liaison Newsletter

6 July 2012
Greetings!

This year, PMI members will attend hundreds of local, national and international PMI events where they have the opportunity to network with and gain insight from their fellow project managers.  As we are only able to do so much traveling in a year, the PMI Educational Foundation staff and Board rely heavily on our
downloads flyer

amazing Liaisons and volunteers to share knowledge about PMIEF.

If you are attending an event at which you would like to share information about PMIEF, please let us know before you go!  We can provide electronic copies of marketing materials that you can print locally, and we are always happy to answer any questions you might have about the foundation and regional activities.

We're grateful for the support that you have offered us so far and look forward to having a "PMIEF presence" at more and more events throughout the year.

Sincerest thanks and appreciation!

Extending PMIEF's Reach through Collaboration

Sometimes the action you take to assist your immediate network and community can simultaneously impact others beyond your region, or even country. PMIEF Liaison Monica Gonzalez from the PMI Nuevo Cuyo chapter has witnessed this multiplier effect over the past couple of months.

Monica has translated several of PMIEF's materials from English into Spanish for use in her community. Her outreach efforts touched her chapter members as well those employed and benefiting from the nonprofit organization where she conducted trainings.

Looking to go into greater depth during her trainings, Monica requested permission to translate

Practicum Cover

the PM Nonprofit Practicum, a longer course for nonprofit organizations. Upon learning that PMI Sinaloa, Mexico Chapter's president and PMIEF Liaison, Francisco Herrera, was already engaged in the translation process for this resource, Monica offered to collaborate with Francisco. The Spanish version of the practicum should be available for PMI members to download in the next few months.

Monica also volunteered to translate our marketing flyers into Spanish, with the intent of sharing them with the local community.  However, within a matter of weeks, the Spanish translations were traveling across international borders into Mexico where PMIEF Board Member, Roberto Toledo represented PMIEF at the PMI Mexico City Chapter's Professional Development Day (PDD).

Roberto noted that the translations that Monica, Francisco and other volunteers have provided were a pleasant and welcome surprise to the PDD attendees and underscored the global focus of PMIEF.

As Monica reflects, "I'm very glad that my translations have been used in various locations, it is wonderful that PMI members can collaborate and work together through the Foundation."
