PMI Educational Foundation Liaison Newsletter
2 December 2011 |
|
|
Greetings!
The year is almost over, I don't know where the time went!
So many wonderful educational resources have been shared in local communities around the world because of you and the other PMIEF Liaisons. Many programs have also been started this year, including programs at homeless shelters, student competitions, and summer camps. By leading project management training and mentoring programs, PMI members have helped youth develop life skills and nonprofits/NGOs become more effective and efficient - showing that PMI members and communities are good neighbors and are giving back to their local communities.
I want to thank you for serving as your community's liaison; you've really made a difference! I'd also like to hear your thoughts about the Liaison program, so you'll be receiving a survey within the next 10 days which will give you the opportunity to comment.
I hope you enjoy the upcoming holiday season and wish you a happy and prosperous new year!
Warm Regards, Diane Fromm |

Member Highlight: PMI Volunteers in Mexico Partner with the EDUCA Foundation to Build a Project Management Program
|
 |
Dulce Morales & Graciela Barcenas | Using the Spanish translation of the primary school materials* created by the PMI Northern Italy Chapter, Dulce Morales from the prospective PMI Queretaro Chapter and Graciela Barcenas from the PMI Mexico City Chapter provide a project management workshop for members of the EDUCA Foundation.
Managing over 40 schools throughout Mexico, EDUCA provides education for low-income children by working both on an individual basis and at the community level. EDUCA enhances Mexico's K-12 schools and provides programs such as staff support, nutritional education, homework help, adult literacy trainings, and psychological assistance.
EDUCA's programs are designed based on the needs of each child, whether they need after-school care, tutoring, or assurance that they will be able to eat three meals a day. EDUCA also provides innovation programming that includes robotics, competitions, and language courses.

EDUCA Training Participants |
Dulce and Graciela plan to hold additional trainings in 2012, including a follow-up session with the most recent group trained, a session for school principals, and another for children and teachers involved with EDUCA's annual fundraiser. By helping EDUCA improve its effectiveness through project management, Dulce and Graciela are in turn helping the more than 15,000 children and 24,000 adults served by the organization each year.
*See the "Resources and Quick Links" section below for more information on the primary school materials used.

For Your Chapter |
Info for Your Chapter Members:
Promoting PMIEF and Your Programs for Social Good:
An Example from the Buenos Aires Chapter
Gerardo Blitzer, the Buenos Aires PMIEF Liaison, organized a display at the PMI Buenos Aires Chapter Congress on 2 November for 800 attendees. The display included PMIEF literature and a PMIEF banner, giving the chapter the opportunity to promote the PMIEF while showcasing the wonderful programs they have created.
If your community would like to do something similar for a regional event or chapter function, we have many sample marketing materials you can print locally. We also have artwork for a banner stand that you can print locally as well as a PowerPoint presentation about the PMIEF if you would like to make a presentation.
This is a great way to get the attention of your members and event attendees, recruit volunteers, and tell your members about your community's charitable programs. |
