PMI Educational Foundation Liaison Newsletter

3 February 2012
Greetings!

As we embark on the second year of the Liaison Program we plan to provide tips and suggestions throughout the year to assist you in your liaison role.

Our first tip: pull together a team!

Last week I had a conversation with Robert Berlin, Central Virginia Chapter's PMIEF Liaison, who has recruited chapter members and created a Liaison Committee to help generate new ideas and manage some of the workload.  Members of the committee are helping him plan and strategize as well as handle administrative matters such as attending meetings if he cannot.  Building your own Liaison Committee could be a great way for you expand your reach without burdening you with more work. Perhaps this model could work for you.

Robert is going to be documenting the development of his program and share it with you, his fellow liaisons.

If you have have any tips you would like to share, we would love to hear from you.

Also, please visit the For Your Chapter section about nominating members for the Kerzner Award, there are financial benefits for both the awardee and their chapter.

German PMI Members Create a Youth Program that has Global Applicability

In 2011, Lutz Mller-Nyncke, PMP and Jochen Brunnstein, PMP piloted a secondary school project management program in a European school  in Schleswig-Holstein, Northern Germany. German students

This course, which spanned over six weekends, was taught using the English version of PM Toolkit for Youth.  It was important to the instructors that the students learn the project management content in English to prepare them for work in the international community.

The student participants were part of an enrichment program whose goal is to assist talented youth and prepare them for the workforce. As the enrichment program is part of a European school with many connections, there are plans to extend this PM program to schools outside of Germany.

The students were very enthusiastic about the project management content, and as we've found with all PMI volunteers that have been involved with youth programs, Lutz and Jochen enjoyed the experience as much as the students.

We look forward to seeing the expansion of this program to other countries!
