PMI Educational Foundation

PMI Educational Foundation Liaison Newsletter

2 March 2012
IntroGreetings!
student with curly hair
We are excited to announce that in the beginning of 2012, PMIEF launched an initiative to integrate project management curricula into the schooling of 13 to 19 year olds around the world. With funding from PMI, the Foundation will be working with teachers, schools, nonprofit organizations that serve youth, and experts in the field of education to develop resources for teachers, students and schools geared specifically for this age group. Please visit the Resources Section for more information.

We recognize and thank the many PMIEF Liaisons and PMI volunteers who are already engaged in work with this age group. We would like to thank Kris Reynolds from the PMI Tulsa Chapter and Enid Vargas from the PMI Puerto Rico Chapter for sharing information about their programs during the "Starting a Youth Program" webinar earlier this month. The Power Point Presentation from the webinar is available in the Resource Section and next month the webinar recordings of Kris and Enid's presentation will be available.

We will be in touch throughout the year with more information about our exciting new initiative for 13-19 year olds!

Warm regards,

Diane Fromm

Sinaloa Mexico Chapter - Impacting Youth and Nongovernmental Organizations (NGO)

Sinaloa SUMA Training
SUMA employees with Francisco

This PMI chapter recently collaborated with SUMA, a community organization in Sinaloa Mexico, offering training to help the NGO learn how to build project management capacity. Using the PM Nonprofit Practicum, Francisco Herrara, the chapter president led the training of SUMA employees.

SUMA is an organization devoted to promoting respect, legality and social integration to fight insecurity in the state of Sinaloa, which has been particularly harmed by drug and crime-related violence. For additional information about SUMA, please visit their website at www.sumasinaloa.or.mx.

Francisco is in the process of translating the PM Nonprofit Practicum into Spanish, which will enable other Spanish-speaking organizations to derive the same benefits from the materials as SUMA. He is also planning a youth program and will be translating the PMI Sydney Chapter's Materials into Spanish. We will let you know when both of these Spanish versions become available.

Francisco, thank you for your good work in helping your community and for translating these resources to assist others in impacting their local society.
