PMI Educational Foundation Liaison Newsletter

1 June 2012
Greetings!

Earlier this year we announced that we are going to offer you tips and suggestions throughout 2012 to assist you in your role as PMIEF Liaisons.

Our first tip: Pull together a team! (February 2012)

Our second tip: Network with other liaisons!

As fellow PMIEF Liaisons, you are one another's best resources, and we hope that you take advantage of opportunities to work together. You can connect to other liaisons via our Liaison LinkedIn group, during Liaison training Webinars, and at regional events. If you hear a story that is particularly compelling to you, we welcome you to email us at pmief@pmi.org for more information about starting your own program.

PMIEF Reception, PMI Global Congress-EMEA

At PMI® LIM and Global Congress held in France last month, our staff and Board members witnessed firsthand how powerful communication between volunteers can be, and we hope this information-sharing will multiply as the PMIEF Liaison program continues to expand.

Warm regards,

PMIEF Reaches Hundreds at PMI Events in France

Last month several members of our Board and staff attended PMI® LIM/Global Congress -EMEA in Marseille, France, coordinating dozens of meetings with PMI members and hosting training sessions and other events in order to share success stories and plan for the future.

At the PMIEF LIM session, guest speaker Simon Robertson described his work developing a PM program with the Hampshire School (England), which included using a PMIEF grant to contextulize the curriculum to fit United Kingdom academic guidelines.  Attendees then viewed  a series of photos of eager Kuwaiti students engaging in PM learning as Muhamed Khalifa Hassan painted a picture of a typical day during his Kuwait City Circus project - an educational PM program for students aged 8 to 10.

At the PMIEF Liaison Training session we learned about the exciting programs that PMI members have created across the EMEA region and introduced many new PMI community leaders to the Liaison program. Walter Ginevri from the PMI Northern Italy Chapter spoke about his programs and materials for primary school students, and Gosia Kusyk from the PMI Poland chapter explained how she used translated versions of Walter's materials with youth in Poland.

PMIEF Board Chair, Jo Ferguson

Our PMIEF Board Chair Jo Ferguson remarked, "the energy in the room was high and positively charged... you could feel their warm reception and their excitement about the programs."

In addition to the sessions, PMIEF also hosted information booths in the PMI exhibit halls and entertained guests on a breezy night at the PMIEF Garden Reception where PMI COO Mark Langley joined Jo Ferguson and Peter Monkhouse in thanking our volunteers and donors for the great work they make possible each and every day.

Our Board and staff returned to the US motivated and enthusiastic about the support PMIEF has from PMI members and PMIEF Liaisons. We appreciate having the opportunity to meet with old and new friends, and we look forward to future communications with all of your worldwide!

For Your Chapter

Info for Your Chapter Members:

Introducing the Engagement Committee

The PMIEF Engagement Committee for PMI Communities consists of PMIEF Board members and volunteers who reach out to and work with PMI community leaders and donors. Their responsibilities may include but are not limited to representing PMIEF at regional events, interacting with community leaders already engaged with or interested in PMIEF, and facilitating the donation process for groups that have expressed an interest in fundraising or donating to PMIEF.

We want you to be aware that Committee members may be reaching out to your community leaders to assist in any of the forementioned items. We're grateful to have our PMIEF Liaisons as the primary communication link between the PMIEF and PMI communities, and we are certain that the Engagement Committee will further strengthen this relationship. Please email us if you have any questions or would like more information.
