UM School of Business has Nation's No. 11 MBA Program for Latin Americans

The School's MBA program is the nation's No. 11 MBA program for Latin American students, according to a world ranking released this month by AméricaEconomía, Latin America's leading business magazine.
School's Undergraduate Program is Among Nation's 10 Best for Business Law, Marketing, International Business and Quantitative Business; Among Top-25 in Six Other Specialty Areas

Bloomberg BusinessWeek has ranked the undergraduate program at the UM School of Business among the nation's top-10 in four specialty areas, including international business and business law..

School Begins New Accelerated Real Estate MBA Program

The School of Business has established a new accelerated MBA program with a concentration in real estate, designed to prepare students to succeed in commercial real estate market careers.

School Gets $350,000 NIH Grant for Cocaine Addiction Study

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has granted $350,000 to a School of Business professor and his colleagues for an innovative study aimed at uncovering cocaine abuse patterns to lead to more effective treatments.

Passion, Positive Attitude, and Finishing What You Start are Keys to Success, Asserts Deloitte CEO and Alumnus in Speech to Graduating Seniors  

Success comes by way of passion and a positive attitude. This was the underlying message from School of Business alumnus and CEO of Deloitte, Joseph Echevarria (BBA '78), the leader of one of the nation's largest professional services firms, in his spring 2012 commencement speech.

Florida Trend - June 2012 - A special section on business research in Florida cited four studies from the School's faculty members including DJ Nanda, a professor of accounting, Michael Tsiros, a professor of marketing, and Claudia Townsend, an assistant professor of marketing. Article 


Commercial Property Executive - May 24, 2012 - The commercial real estate magazine published an article about the School's new Accelerated MBA in Real Estate program. The article included quotes from Anuj Mehrotra, vice dean, who noted that the new program "is an example of how we as a business school work to be responsive to the demands of business today." Article 


Bloomberg BusinessWeek - May 22, 2012 - The magazine's online "B-School Twitter Roundup" column noted that Yongtao Guan, a professor of management, received a $350,000 National Institutes of Health grant to analyze cocaine abuse patterns before, during, and following rehabilitation. Article 

 

The Miami Herald - May 21, 2012 - An article about the IBM SmartCamp, a competition for new ventures in health care, noted that one of the presenters, Cohealo, is led by Mark Slaughter, an MBA student at the UM School of Business. Article

The Miami Herald - May 20, 2012 - Juliano Laran, an assistant professor of marketing, was quoted in an article about gasoline prices and consumer perceptions of fairness related to the cost, observing that "People believe it is fair to pay $10 for a beer in South Beach, but they do not want to pay $2 from a rundown grocery store someplace else, even if it is the same product." Article

The Miami Herald - May 17, 2012 - Steve Ullmann, director of the School's programs in health sector management and policy, was quoted in an article about Miami having the nation's highest costs for private health insurance. Article

Forbes - May 9, 2012 - One of the magazine's entrepreneurship blogs published an article authored by School of Business alumnus Lucas Sommer, who wrote about how winning a $25,000 Pitch It contest helped him launch Audimated.com, an online music business, several years after he graduated in 2007. Article 

 

South Florida Business Journal - May 4, 2012 - An article about global business programs for executives highlighted the School's international degree programs, executive education, and international impact conferences and included quotes from Anuj Mehrotra, the School's  vice dean for faculty affairs and graduate business programs.

 

Huffington Post - May 4, 2013 - A column featured research by Juliano Laran, an assistant professor of marketing, which found that that being exposed to negative news causes a "live-for-the-day" mindset which can result in eating more high-calorie foods. Article

Ocean Drive - May/June 2012 - An article about the potential for wealthy homeowners to take advantage of a federal program to help those who owe more on their mortgages than their homes are worth featured insight about the ethical issues from Ann Olazabal, vice dean and professor of business law.

AméricaEconomía - May 2012 - The leading business magazine for Latin America ranked the School of Business No. 24 in the world's best for Latin American MBA students. The rankings place the School No. 11 among all U.S. business schools. Article
