Health Care Experts/Advisors React to Health Care Reform

The School's faculty and
advisors to its programs in health sector management and policy are offering
insight into health care reform in the wake of congressional passage of health
care reform legislation. Steven Ullmann, director of the School's programs in
health sector management and policy, whose expertise has been featured
extensively throughout the health care debate in news media ranging from CNN, the Fox News Network, and Nightly Business Report to Forbes.com, was quoted extensively in The Miami Herald the day after the House vote. Several members of the School's Health Sector
Management and Policy Advisory Board also offer insight about the legislation
including Richard L. Clarke, president and CEO of Healthcare Financial
Management Association, Linda S. Quick, president of South Florida Hospital

Business
Students Selected to Participate
in Clinton Global Initiative |
At least two teams of undergraduate students and one team of MBA students from
the School of Business have been selected to participate at the third annual Clinton Global Initiative University
(CGI U) hosted by former President Bill Clinton April 16-18, 2010, at the
University of Miami. The event, which is expected to bring together
approximately 1,500 college students, university officials and representatives
from youth organizations from all parts of the world, will focus on global
challenges in education, environment and climate change, peace and human
rights, poverty alleviation, and public health. MORE

popularity of haggling with retailers included insight from Shweta
Oza, assistant professor of marketing, who noted that "the

University Distinguished Professor of management, was quoted in an
article about Toyota's surge in sales despite its recall crisis. In the

noted that by offering deep discounts Toyota is "picking low-hanging

CFO.com - March 2, 2010 - A lead online article featured
research by Andrew Leone, chair and professor of
accounting, which found that CEOs who are also the founders of their
companies are much less likely to lose their jobs when their firms are
cited for accounting irregularities compared to CEOs who are not
founders. In those cases the CFO is more likely to get fired. Article
