Industry Titan Sam Zell Headlines University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference

The Schools of Business and Architecture hosted the University's inaugural Real Estate Impact Conference in February, inviting industry leaders to explore key trends in Miami and abroad. Sam Zell, chairman of Equity Group Investments, served as the conference's keynote speaker.

Surprise Classroom Visit by Former President Bill Clinton Wows Students

On a Presidents Day students will never forget, former President Bill Clinton - whose administration was responsible for a number of health care achievements - replaced UM President Donna Shalala as teacher for a day at the School's Storer Auditorium, lecturing to her students on a variety of health care-related issues.
School's Director of Health Sector Programs to Business Leaders in Puerto Rico: Much More Controversy over Health Care Reform Ahead

 

Steven Ullmann, director of the School's programs in health sector management and policy, offered insight about the historic legislation as a keynote speaker at the Puerto Rico Health & Insurance Conference 2012: Economic Transformation in Health, which was co-hosted by the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce and the School of Business.

School of Business to Launch Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Program

The School of Business will launch a new Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Program in May 2012. Classes will take place over three consecutive weekends and will be followed by a process improvement project at the University's Miller School of Medicine.

The Wall Street Journal - Feb. 22, 2012 - An article published on the Journal's "Ideas Market" blog cited research by Claudia Townsend, an assistant professor of marketing, which found that people are less likely to purchase a potentially embarrassing product if a social media symbol appears alongside the product online. Chicago Tribune - Feb. 20, 2012 - An article about the value of earning an MBA degree included quotes from and information about Amanda Crum (MBA '11), who earned her degree from the School in the one-year full-time program. Article  

 

The Miami Herald - Feb. 13, 2012 - Susan Amat, a management and marketing lecturer at the School, offered advice for entrepreneurs who will have the opportunity to meet up with Web developers and designers during Miami Tech Week. Article

The Miami Herald - Feb. 12, 2012 - An article featuring insight about Miami's economic future made by real estate titan Sam Zell noted that his comments came during the University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference, which was hosted by the School of Business and School of Architecture.  Article

The Miami Herald - Feb. 10, 2012 - Steven Ullmann, director of the School's programs in health sector management and policy, was quoted in an article that revealed that Florida organizations have received $119.6 million in reform act funds over the last two years as a result of the Affordable Care Act, which the state's governor and legislature have opposed. The article was also published in the Tampa Bay Times. Article

South Florida Business Journal - Feb. 3, 2011 - Susan Amat, a marketing and management lecturer at the School, was among the region's faculty, students and alumni entrepreneurs quoted from a roundtable discussion hosted by the Journal. Article
