Joseph J. Echevarria, Jr. (BBA '78), an alumnus of the School and member of the School's Board of Overseers has been elected to the position of chief executive officer at Deloitte LLP, the largest professional services organization in the U.S.

Dean Sevilla Sacasa at E3 Summit

The School's interim dean, along with the director of entrepreneurship programs and director the CIBER based at the School, were among thought leaders who gathered in Puerto Rico this month to push for a better educated workforce, new venture growth, and a focus on exports to foster economic growth in the Caribbean and Latin America.

School Joins Family Firm Institute to Host Seminars for Latin American Family Firm Professionals

The School has joined with the Family Firm Institute (FFI) to host a series of seminars in Miami for Spanish-speaking professionals serving the family enterprise field. The 2011 Interdisciplinary Seminars for Family Enterprise Professionals will be held May 11 - 13, 2011.

Harvard Business Review - April 25, 2011 - In a blog post, Robert Plant, an associate professor of computer information systems, provided insight into research that chief information officers should undertake to ensure they make the right decisions about information technology strategies. Article

- April 23, 2011 - Arun Sharma
, a professor of marketing, discussed the business strategy behind events and other South Florida business promotions tied to the wedding of Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton. Article

Caribbean Business - April 21, 2011 -  Puerto Rico's leading weekly business newspaper published a feature article on the School's Executive MBA and other programs on the island including quotes from Frances Adlrich Sevilla-Sacasa, the School's interim dean, and Anuj Mehrotra, the vice dean for graduate business programs and faculty affairs. Article

The Miami Herald - April 20, 2011 - Steve Ullmann, the director of the School's programs in health sector management and policy, was quoted in an article about a new study that shows that more seniors are dying at home, rather than in hospitals. Article

The Miami Herald - April 11, 2011 - Susan Amat, a management lecturer and executive director of The Launch Pad, authored an article offering insight about non-monetary investments that entrepreneurs should seek from associates such as "their time, resources, and credibility." Article

Vocero de Puerto Rico - April 8, 2011 - The Puerto Rico newspaper with an island-wide circulation published an article about the E³ Summit of the Americas 2011, co-hosted by the School of Business and the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce. The article included a quote from Frances Aldrich Sevilla-Sacasa, the School's interim dean, who spoke in her keynote address about the School's commitment to the region. Article

Chosun Ilbo - April 8, 2011 - South Korea's largest daily newspaper published an article that profiled A. Parasuraman, holder of the James W. McLamore Chair in Marketing and a professor of marketing, and cited his extensive research on customer service and organizational deficiencies that result in poor customer service.

 
EFE - April 7, 2011 - The leading Spanish language news service published an article about the E³ Summit of the Americas 2011, co-hosted by the School of Business and the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce. The article included comments by Frances Aldrich Sevilla-Sacasa, the School's interim dean, who spoke in her keynote address about School's commitment to advancing economic growth in the Caribbean and the rest of Latin America. The article was published by a number of Spanish-language online and other media including Telemundo Atlanta, Diario Las Americas (Miami), The Vista Semanal - Naples, La, La Prensa de San Antonio, Impacto Latin News - New York, and Radio La Primerísima (Nicaragua). Article

The Times (London) - April 6, 2011 - The newspaper published a feature article about the School's MBA programs, including information about and quotes from student Craig Hardeman. The article noted the School's rise in prominence and also included quotes from Frances Aldrich Sevilla-Sacasa, the interim dean, who said "The school is moving forward with a vision to become one of the world's truly great business schools."

Latin Trade - April 2011 - An article about the growth of MBA programs in Colombia included a number of quotes from Anuj Mehrotra, vice dean for graduate business programs, which offered details about the School's Spanish-language Global Executive MBA program, as well as the elective offerings that are part of its other Executive MBA programs.
