When the catastrophic earthquake devastated Haiti in January, John M.
Mezias, an associate professor of management at the School, was planning
workshops for the Academy of Management (AOM) conference in August,
which would to take place almost 2,000 miles away in Montreal. Recognizing that Montreal is home to a large Haitian
community, he tried to organize a business development workshop that

In the News Miami Today - July 8, 2010 - A feature article outlined the strides that have been made by the School over the past three years including the successful recruitment of leading faculty, the launch of new cross-disciplinary programs, new global initiatives such as a new Executive MBA program in Puerto Rico, and the University of Miami Global Business Forum, organized by the School. The article included numerous quotes from Dean Barbara Kahn, who noted the School has taken on a new leadership role in the community in response to what she heard when she arrived as dean nearly three years ago. "That's what people wanted from a university, and we're really trying to deliver," she said.
