Leadership Institute Partners with WEL
The Johnson A. Edosomwan Leadership Institute is proud to announce its partnership with Women in Executive Leadership (WEL).  One of WEL's most instrumental endeavors is the Census of Women Directors and Executives Officers. Compiled in conjunction with the University of Miami School of Business Administration, the census is a study conducted bi-yearly that highlights the progress being made in bringing more female executives into the boardroom. Leadership New Leadership Research Awards Program
The Johnson A. Edosomwan Leadership Institute is pleased to announce a Leadership Research Awards program.  These awards will be to support leadership research (up to $5,000).  The award recipient will be asked to acknowledge the support of the Leadership Institute and write a short position paper for the newsletter and website based upon the research. These awards, open to UM faculty and PhD students, will be competitively selected by a faculty committee.  Should you have any questions, please contact Terri Scandura at scandura@miami.edu or 305-284-4154. Marie Dasborough Leadership and Emotional Intelligence
Does leadership need emotional intelligence? This topic was recently broached by School of Business Administration Management Professor Marie T. Dasborough in an article published in The Leadership Quarterly. "Emotional intelligence has become very popular in the management consulting world," says Dasborough, "but the problem in the academic world is that there is no proper measurement for emotional intelligence and we need to measure properly before we can say it has an impact on leadership."
