A company founded by UM School of Business sophomore Tyler McIntyre has been named in Inc. magazine's third annual report on America's most innovative college start-ups. McIntyre, who majors in entrepreneurship, marketing and finance, last year won an elevator pitch contest sponsored by The Launch Pad at UM, then went on to launch Lucid Messenger, a messaging application for the Blackberry, iPhone and Android mobile devices. McIntyre's venture is among just 14 start-ups nationwide that made the list this year.

The School of Business has partnered with the CFO Alliance to establish the national organization's South Florida chapter and a series of roundtable discussions for senior financial executives. The partnership kicked off in February with a breakfast meeting and presentation entitled "The Changing Role of the CFO," which was led by "DJ" Nanda, an accounting professor at the School. READ MORE

The School of Business has partnered with the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce to co-host a premier trade and policy forum on education, entrepreneurship and exports and their role in competitiveness and economic development. The "First E³ Summit of the Americas 2011" will be held April 7, 2011 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Keynote speakers from the School include Frances Aldrich Sevilla-Sacasa, the interim dean, Ken Colwell, the director of entrepreneurship programs, and Joseph Ganitsky, a research professor and director of the Center for International Business Education and Research.
