Interim Dean Sevilla-Sacasa Hands Reins to New Dean Aug. 1  

Interim Dean Sevilla-Sacasa

On August 1, the School will welcome Eugene W. Anderson as its new dean. His arrival follows the six-month tenure of Interim Dean Frances Aldrich Sevilla-Sacasa (AB '77). A long-time financial services industry executive, Sevilla-Sacasa strengthened the School's ties to the business community by  establishing new partnerships, raising the School's international profile, and engaging support which included securing new donations and financial commitments to the School.

School Teams with CFO Alliance to Help South Florida Finance Leaders Identify Investment Opportunities

CFO Alliance

With many companies sitting on cash and holding healthy balance sheets, the School of Business partnered with the CFO Alliance in June to host a roundtable discussion aimed at helping South Florida finance leaders determine how to identify the best investment opportunities.

Undergraduate Students Experience International Business Firsthand  

Upper-level undergraduate students took international business learning to a new level this summer by participating in a four-week study abroad trip to Milan, Italy. The 22 students were immersed in Italian culture as they studied operations management from an international perspective.

The School of Business hosted nearly 50 leading business executives from across Latin America in June for the classroom sessions of its 2011 Certificate Programs for executives and working professionals, as part of a nine-year partnership between the School and C�mara Interamericana de Transportes (CIT).

U.S. Debt Default Fears Overblown, Says Finance Professor

As the debate over raising the U.S. debt ceiling drags on, some now believe the nation is on the brink of defaulting on its debt and warning of economic disaster - major sell-offs on exchanges around the world, spikes in interest rates and the collapse of the dollar. But Sandro Andrade, an assistant professor of finance at the University of Miami School of Business Administration, says such fears may be overblown. Watch Now

United Press International - July 16, 2011 - An article about Greece's debt crisis included comments from Sandro Andrade, an assistant professor of finance, who noted that "If Greece decided to pay 25 cents on a dollar, take it or leave it, which was what Argentina did, the country's banking system will take a huge blow."
