One Day at a Time

 

 

Some years ago, Christy Lane sang a song called "One Day at a Time, Sweet Jesus"...

 

"Show me the stairway

I have to climb

Lord, for my sake

Teach me to take

One day at a time"

 

I was reminded of Lane's song when I recently read this from Robert Louis Stephenson:

 

"Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until nightfall. Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down. And this is all life really means."   

 

As Jesus said, "Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day." (Matthew 6.34)

 

No mountain too high, no river too wide, no chasm too deep - with faith in God, there is nothing that will happen to you today that will overwhelm you.   Today, God's grace is sufficient.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE 

Nominating Committee Seeks Names of

Candidates for the Office of Elder and Deacon

 

 

Each year, a congregational nominating committee is chosen to nominate members to serve as Elder and Deacon.

 

This year, the members of the committee are Doris Annas, John Cain, Phil Cartwright, Sharon Floebeck (liaison for PWoF), Loretta Penny, Alan Taylor, and John Todd (moderator).

 

The congregation will receive and vote on their nominations at a Congregational Meeting to be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary. In the Presbyterian Church, "Christ's ministry and standard for all ministry, the pattern for the one who came   'not to be served but to serve'." (Book of Order, G-2.0101).

 

Elders: Six (6) people will be nominated to each serve a three (3) year term.

 

Deacons: We will elect eleven (11) deacons for a three (3) year term. Our congregation is divided into twenty-two (22) neighborhoods which receive diaconate care.

 

Forms can be picked up in the Foyer or the Church office, and completed forms may be delivered back to the church office, or nominations can be emailed to Elder John Todd at jgtodd@yahoo.com.

IT'S BACK! 

Men's Health Class

 

The class begins Tuesday, August 7, at 4:00 PM.

This Tuesday class runs for just 10 weeks. It is a great way for men to burn off the calories and get moving. This is a donation-only class, does not require pre-registration, but a commitment to regular attendance is requested.
