A NOTE FROM PASTOR TIM

Not a Nice Subject to Talk About.....

No, it's not! Nor is it nice to realize that the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) found it necessary to partner with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers to urge retail food corporations to address modern slavery in the agricultural industry and to end the exploitative conditions in which it flourishes. Slavery in the Twenty-First Century, and in our backyard to boot! Not nice. In fact, it is disgusting.

I invite you to be informed. Wednesday, January 11, is "Human Trafficking Awareness Day." I urge you to learn more about the sin of selling and trading God's children by going to our denomination's web-site, www.pcusa.org/humantrafficking. Let Moses' words thunder: "Let my people go!"

Thank you for your concern.

In faith,

FAITH PONDERING

Then Judah said to his brothers, "What profit is it if we kill our brother and conceal his blood? Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him, for he is our brother, our own flesh." And his brothers agreed. When some Middianite traders passed by, they drew Joseph up, lifting him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. And they took Joseph to Egypt.
