Keeping the Window of Faith Open
Recently, someone came to church who is against "organized religion." To their surprise, they found kindred spirits. They met people who shared their feelings and thoughts. They now regularly worship with us.
When I was in school, it was explained to me that the purpose of a window was to allow light to pass through. If the window obstructed the light, it had lost its function and was no longer a window. Similarly, the church is like a window - its purpose is to allow the light of God to pass through it so that it can be seen and felt. If the church becomes all about the church; if the church is self-serving, the love of God is blocked. When I hear the term "organized religion," I think of an institution that is no longer a servant-church but a church that has lost its way and prevents Christ from entering people's lives. At Faith, it's not about us. We do not exist for ourselves, but exist only to glorify God and to serve others.
Organized religions create rules to control people and to maintain the power of the institution. In the process, organized religion hurts many people and turns them away from God. Please join me in undoing this damage by introducing them to faith and to Faith.
In faith,

Pastor Tim
