Happy 2015!

This month we're excited to share the 2015 Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism annual FREE magazine with you.

This publication is loaded with great information--including Joe's article "How Alcoholism Affects the Entire Family" (page 21).

Also, don't miss the heartwarming story "A Year Without." by our friend Sharron K. Cosby which was recently printed in the Jan, 2015 Guideposts Magazine.

Thanks for being part of our community by commenting, sharing and reading. YOU can play an important role in helping a friend or loved one who is struggling. And remember, --Never Give Up Hope!

Mother struggles with son's addiction
It wasn't until she gave up something herself that she began to understand her son's long struggle with addiction.

I thought I could handle it. It had been a few months, and I thought I was strong enough. I walked into the break room, where someone had put out doughnuts for a coworker's birthday. My mouth watered.

Letting go of things I can't control

"Today I will practice detachment by letting go of things I can't control."

Detachment means standing back and looking at a situation without having a hand in it. Watching fireworks is practicing detachment. Flying a kite is not. Allowing friends the freedom to have their own opinions is practicing detachment. Feeling compelled to change their minds is not.
