Don't Lose Hope! Pursue Success!

There are basically two ways to face a business downturn and a scarcity of orders.

One way is weak resignation...simply accepting the fact that the invoice printer is not spinning. This leads to reconsideration of your assets and investment. Must you postpone all your plans for growth and development? Must you lay off valuable people? Must you start making cutbacks in your operations?

Weak resignation is contagious. Your people will catch it from you.

A better way to face the business doldrums is to think and act aggressively to overcome the shortage of orders. It starts with a fired-up management attitude--your attitude--one that says "We will turn this around!"

The aggressive attitude is contagious. Your people will catch it from you.

An entire organization inevitably adopts the positive or negative stance of its leaders. Since you don't want your organization to descend into negativity, you should start singing to yourself the old Johnny Mercer song, "Accentuate the positive; eliminate the negative; don't mess with Mr. In-between." Your positive attitude will rub off on your people.

One way to bring out a positive attitude in your people is to share your advertising with them. They can be told (enthusiastically) about your company's advertising program in pep meetings and in all kinds of intra-company communications. Speaking of sharing your advertising with them--how about putting some of them in your advertising? Their real-people testimonials about various aspects of your business can be very convincing to your prospects and suspects.

But first, you have to be engaged in advertising. And we think your advertising program should never consist of one-shots, but instead be in a sustained program that reminds prospects over and over of who you are and what you can do for them.

Our print publications are the highest ranked publications in the pulp and paper industry worldwide according to alexa.com.  We publish our and our major competitors' Alexa rankings each month here.
