Either consciously, subconsciously or unconsciously, we are always creating. In the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible we read the story of God bringing all the animals in the Garden of Eden before Adam to be named. He had created Adam in His image, and therefore, Adam had the power to create as well. Whatever name Adam decided to call each animal, God honored, and that became its name.
It is the same with us. We, like Adam, were created in God's image and likeness and are divinity expressing on earth. Things show up in our lives as what we call them. And God honors the labels we give things. The Scripture reminds us that the power of life and death is in our tongue...or, our words. But what fuels the tongue? Is the power really in the tongue? Or in the mind that controls the tongue. Before our mouth can speak something, our mind must think it. That is why it is of the utmost importance to bring every thought into captivity.
Again, we are constantly creating, with our thoughts first and then with our words. If we do not captivate our thoughts or direct them in any way, then we are creating our circumstances unconsciously. This type of thinking (creating) results in the victim mentality of things happening TO us. The next level is subconscious thinking where we are aware of our thoughts, but do not put forth much effort to change them. This results in becoming a part of the collective consciousness of our surroundings and feeling as if things are happening AROUND us that we are powerless to control.
Let us make it our goal to begin to create our reality consciously. This is when we "own our stuff" - or in other words, we take responsibility for our part in the creation of our own circumstances and realize that if we don't like the mess we have created for ourselves, we can re-create our reality with the same power we used to create it in the first place. It all begins in our thought process. God honors what we label the things in our lives just as surely as He honored the names Adam gave the animals. It is truly all in our own hands.
