JULY 2012 Synergy Success E-Zine
When you come to the end of your rope,
tie a knot and hang on.

Greetings!
Greetings to YOU and a Sizzling Summer Welcome to our community of high-achieving women who want to turn Stress into Strength at every opportunity!
I'd say "Let the Fireworks Begin" but around here they already have! For the last few weeks there's been one Spark after another in my home and office; from my computer crashing, to a few "hot crossed family wires," to last week's devastating windstorm that uprooted about 20 trees - 7 across our driveway alone - launching branches into power lines and our neighborhood into darkness. (And Oh how we take air conditioning for granted in triple-digit heat until we don't have it!) Amidst what looks like a war zone outside, our family members, home and cars were spared even the first scratch. What a huge reminder to be grateful for the little things!
No doubt you have weathered a few of life's storms, too, or perhaps are in the middle of one now. Maybe a personal hurricane just passed and you are picking up the pieces. Sometimes we think if we're living right, we shouldn't have painful circumstances to deal with. When the winds blow we wonder "what did I do to deserve this?" We may cry "what's the point in working so hard in my business...or making my garden beautiful...or building my dream home, etc. only to see it all destroyed in a flash?"
Instead of falling into victim mode, saying "poor me, look what happened, isn't this awful?" a resilient approach has us focused on what we have left, and counting our blessings. Life happens and there is treasure to be found, even among the ashes. Remember that "pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional." [Kathleen Casey] In addition, no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, it could always be worse. (For example, the first thing on the news when our T.V. came back on was a row of charred homes due to Colorado wildfires. Now that would be worse!)
So as we Declare our freedom from work to celebrate Fourth of July with family and friends, let's also free ourselves from the habit of suffering over our problems or feeling sorry for ourselves. Instead of allowing setbacks to make us bitter, let's leverage what we learn to become better.
We're always Free to Move Forward, and Stronger Together!

"Do It Anyway"
~ Poem by Mother Teresa ~
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, can be destroyed overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway. |
