ACHIEVING SUCCESS TIPS
Understanding the Employees' Treating Physicians Perspective

The employees' treating physicians should not see you as their adversary. Treating physicians may be pulled in many directions at once, so it is helpful to look at the situation from their perspective.

The employee supplies information about the injury. The employee describes job functions to the physician, which may be inaccurate or incomplete. This is one reason why it is so important the physician visit your workplace.

The physician may keep the employee out of work longer because of a fear of a malpractice suit if the employee returns too quickly.

The physician may assume the company is not interested in its employees if the employer does not maintain contact with the physician. The physician may not know your company wants to have all employees return to work even if in a modified capacity.
