Adam Goldstein School Hosts Top Minds in Marketing for Leading Industry Conference on Innovation
Leading academics joined top business executives at the School of Business June 18 and 19 to share insights for successfully launching new products and services. The "Customer Insights for Innovation" conference, hosted by the School, was organized by the Marketing Science Institute (MSI), an organization dedicated to bridging the gap between marketing science theory and business practice.
PODER Ranks School's MBA Program Among Top 25 for Hispanics
According to PODER magazine, "the businessPODER schools on this year's listing of the nation's leading MBA programs for Hispanics do not simply reflect the schools that offer top-notch programs. This year's listing takes into account those schools that lead in Hispanic student recruitment efforts and offer benefits and services that positively affect the not only Hispanic student population but the future of America's marketplace."
Omar Paredes at the Rotary ClubMBAs Spend Summer Supporting American Red Cross and Area Children's Museum
The School's MBA Consultants to Nonprofits Program continues to make a difference in its third year with the American Red Cross of Greater Miami & the Keys and the Miami Children's Museum participating. The summer internship program links full-time MBA students with area nonprofits.
Executives From Latin America Participate in Certificate Program
Port of MiamiThe School of Business hosted more than 50 executives from Latin America for a weeklong business certificate program in June. The program, delivered in Spanish and Portuguese, is part of the School's Executive Education program and includes a class module taught by School of Business professors and industry leaders, and a trip to the Port of Miami.
Barbara Kahn Dean Kahn's Research on Product Packaging Featured Prominently on National TV Program
A recent study by Dean Barbara Kahn, which found that where the image of a product is placed on its package influences how heavy or light the product is perceived to be by consumers, was featured on PBS's Nightly Business Report this month. The segment showed Kahn walking around a grocery store to illustrate her findings, which have implications for how marketers design product labels. The research will be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Marketing Research.
Parasuraman at Fudan Vice Dean Parasuraman Addresses Symposium on Service Quality
A. Parasuraman, vice dean of faculty and the James W. McLamore Chair in Marketing, addressed more than 200 business executives in Shanghai, China on "Achieving Excellence through Superior Service Quality." Parasuraman was a keynote speaker at a symposium themed Creating Value through Service that took place on June 5-6. The event was organized by Fudan University, which has one of the premier business schools in China.  While there he also taught a research seminar for faculty and doctoral students on the topic of "Reflections on My Career, Publishing in Top-Tier Journals, and Contributing Significantly to a Field."

Dr. Steve UllmannFaculty Share Financial Insight with Top Health Care Professionals at National Conference
Steven Ullmann, professor and director of the School's Programs in Health Sector Management and Policy, and Andrew Leone, professor and chair of accounting, spoke at the Health Care Financial Management Association's Annual Conference in Seattle June 14-17.  The event brought together top health care Andrew Leonefinancial professionals to learn about the most current trends in health care with a focus on cost savings, efficiency, revenue and capital strategies.  Ullmann and Leone led a full day workshop titled "CFO Symposium: Trends, Environment and Analysis," and co-facilitated an informal discussion on the current environment, meeting challenges and opportunities and moving toward a higher performing health care system.
Cecily Cooper National Business Blog Features Faculty Insight on Trust
A recent talk by Cecily Cooper, assistant professor of management, is featured on a blog published on BNET, part of CBS Interactive. Cooper was invited to head a discussion on maintaining or repairing trust during recession at the Organizational Trust Roundtable hosted by the King's College HRM Learning Board in London on June 18.  It was attended by managers from various UK companies including Barclays, Network Rail, and the Church of England.
