Spring 2009 Commencement: Speakers Announced
Isaac Prilleltensky, the dean of the School of Education, will be the
commencement speaker at the graduate degree ceremony May 14. Richard Fain, the
chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises will be the speaker for the School
of Business undergraduate ceremony May 15. Fain, a UM Trustee, was also on
campus in January to participate in the Global Business Forum.

Barron's Names Alumnus Among Nation's Top 100
Financial Advisors Patrick Dwyer (MBA '93), a private wealth advisor at Merrill
Lynch in Miami, has been ranked No. 18 on Barron's list of America's top
100 financial advisors. The ranking reflects the volume of assets overseen by
the advisors and their teams, revenues generated for the firms and the quality
of the advisors' practices. The list was published in the magazine's April 20
cover story and Dwyer is featured as one of five analysts who provide their
approaches to diversification and the other hot-button issues of the day. |
The Bermont/Carlin Group at Smith Barney Honors School of Business School Scholars
Sixteen of the School's top students were honored
this month by The Bermont/Carlin Group at Smith Barney as part of a student
scholarship program. The Bermont/Carlin Scholarship is an internship program
established by prominent wealth managers and civic leaders Adam E. Carlin and
Richard B. Bermont, principals of Coral Gables-based The Bermont/Carlin Group
at Smith Barney.

Orlando Executive MBA Networking Event
Alumni of the School's Executive MBA (EMBA) program in
Orlando got together with current and prospective Orlando EMBA students for a
special networking reception in that city April 27. They were joined by Ram
Krishnan, professor of marketing, and Anuj Mehrotra, vice dean for Graduate
Business Programs, who outlined the School's strategy for achieving global

chair and professor of accounting, was featured in a "Heard on the
Street" column. Leone's research found that most analysts do not take
into account the extra week that many companies include in their
quarterly earnings every five or six years, revealing a potential
profit opportunity for investors.

expansion of its Executive MBA program to Puerto Rico was highlighted
in the online "News from the Schools" column.
