Mary Kay Buehler to join
LHN Music Department | |
Lutheran High North is excited to announce the addition of Mary Kay Buehler to the LHN Music Department.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin, she
performed in several Broadway national tours, including The Sound of Music with Shirley Jones, Peter Pan with Sandy Duncan, Annie with Sarah Jessica Parker, and Camelot with Robert Goulet. She also appeared with Northeastern Opera Theatre and the Amato Opera of NYC in The Marriage of Figaro and The Barber of Seville. Later, she received a Master of Music from the University of North Texas in Denton, where she was also a Teaching Assistant in Voice.
As an educator, Mary Kay has directed choirs at both the junior high and high school levels. Her students have won admission to the Texas All-State Choir, they have been chosen as Outstanding Performers at the State Solo/Ensemble Competition, and they have won numerous Sweepstakes Awards at Concert and Sight-Reading competitions and festivals. One of many highlights was an appearance of the Clements High School Varsity Chorale at Carnegie Hall in New York, as part of the Mid-America Choral Festival.
In addition, she has directed or choreographed over forty musical and theatrical productions, both in schools and community theatres. Locally, she has appeared in productions with the Houston Grand Opera and Theatre Under the Stars, and she continues to serve as an adjudicator at regional music contests.
Mary Kay resides in Bellaire with her husband Mark, their son Jonathan, and the newest addition to the family, Shiva the German Shepherd. They are active members of First United Methodist Church, Houston.

Dr. Jan Lohmeyer | |
Our own Dr. Jan Lohmeyer was chosen and contracted by the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod to write the history of their school system for publication in the Prager Handbook of Private Schools.
Dr. Lohmeyer finished his work last month and it was accepted both by the Prager Publishing Company and the LC-MS. We are proud of him for representing our school and community in this fine endeavor.
