Spring Break Italy Trip | | |
March 12th-20th, 59 LHN students, parents, teachers and alumni traveled to Italy to visit Venice, Florence, and Rome. This educational travel experience provided an up close and personal opportunity for the LHN community to learn and explore God's amazing world.

1st Annual Brianna Becker Memorial 5K Fun Run & Walk | | |
 Our Savior Lutheran School is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Brianna Becker Memorial 5K Fun Run and Walk! Brianna Becker was a student at the Our Savior Lutheran School from PK through eighth grade, Salutatorian at Lutheran High North (Class of 2006), and had just started her senior year at the University of Texas when she laid claim to her heavenly reward. Majoring in Government and Political Philosophy, Brianna was already very active in the political arena, completing internships at the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute, and the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and as a statewide office holder in the Young Conservatives of Texas at UT. Brianna loved a good debate, she loved to run, and she loved her Lord. In 2007, Brianna bought an 8th Grade Commemorative Brick inscribing "Sola Gratia" on its face. Her parents, Allan and Julie, felt this would be a wonderful theme for our event; Grace Alone. So it is with their blessing that we named this event in Brianna's honor. This is a fundraiser to benefit a new scholarship fund for graduating seniors who are OSL alumni and OSL. 
We want you to participate in the 5K run/walk. You can try to win the whole thing or just go at your own pace, your choice! The 5K (which is 3.1 miles) will all take place on the campus of OSL. Runners/walkers will make two loops around the campus. The course will be on the paved surfaces of the property. For those who might not be ready to tackle the complete 5K this year, we encourage you to still register and walk even if you just choose to make one loop! Please complete the registration form or register online at www.briannabecker5k.org. The race is open to participants 14 and up.
Everyone participating in the 5K will receive a FREE T-shirt (guaranteed if registered by April 1).

Beware of "Official" mail | | |
Recently some students received letters from "The National Society of High School Scholars". The letter congratulates the student for their achievement at Lutheran High North and then asks for money to join this society with the opportunity for scholarships. This is NOT the National Honor Society. It does not cost money to belong to the National Honor Society. The real letters concerning the National Honor Society were on our letterhead and were hand delivered with the last report card. It should also never cost money to apply for scholarships. |

College & Testing Information | | |
JUNIORS -Now is the time to register for the spring administration of the SAT and/or the ACT. The spring dates for the SAT testing are 5/7 & 6/4 and for the ACT testing are 4/9 & 6/11. There are no July or August testing dates. Register online (use the LHN high school code - 443399) at www.sat.collegeboard.com and www.actstudent.org.
SAT TEST PREP CLASS - LHN will be offering a 6 week SAT test prep course through Revolution Prep starting on March 26th and ending on May 4th. There will be 6 class sessions on weekday nights from 6-9pm. and 6 practice exams on Saturday mornings from 9am-1pm. This class will be available to ALL STUDENTS but generally most beneficial to Juniors and Sophomores. Registration will be online. There will be an email soon detailing the class and the website to use. Final details are still being worked out.
Practice PSAT for 9th and 10th graders - Saturday, April 16th. This is an actual PSAT test which will be proctored and timed as a real test. Cost is $10. If you would like to take the test but that is not a good day for you, please contact Mrs. Eickemeyer. |

*LHN is happy to announce all college acceptances. A special red sign is also placed on the student's locker. Please bring a copy of your acceptance letter and give to Mrs. Mary Heath for your file.
**Copies of the letters awarding scholarships, their amounts and conditions should also been given to Mrs. Heath for your file. These amounts are documented and the total amount of the class as a group is published in the senior profile book distributed at graduation.

Track & Field Update | | |
The shotput and discus throwers from LHN really excelled at the St. Johns meet this month. On the women's side, Nicole Sitz took first place in both the shotput and the discus, with Cindi Curtin finishing 3rd in the shotput, and 4th in the discus. Natalie Rodriguez took 3rd place in the discus finishing up a great day for the Lady Lions. On the mens side, Corey Spangler took 1st in the shotput and 3rd in the discus, while Robert McQurter took 1st place in the discus and finished up 3rd in the shotput. Freshmen Elena Congelio, Stephen Chevallier, and Sarah Miller have also drastically improved and are expected to compete in district as well.
