LHN Economics Teams

 Stock Market Games: With two weeks to go, LHN's team consisting of Lainey Murdock, Jennifer Kim, Miguel Cepeda, and E.J. Johnson is in third place out of 729 teams throughout the greater Houston area. North's team is the only private school in the top ten!
Economic Challenge: Three teams from LHN have qualified for the state finals in Austin on April 14 which will be held at the state capitol. The team of David Bodden, Deborah Koch, Taylor Rivera, and Ealing (Mimi) Tuan had the highest qualifying score in its division. The other two teams consisted of Kelley Curran, Lauren Kelley, Connor Markey and Meredith Whitefied on one and Justin Lee, Jaeger Butson, Tyler Byrd, and J.C. Duncan on the other. This contest consists of general economic knowledge. LHN has won the state competition twice in recent years.
Personal Finance Challenge: The Personal Finance Challenge is a new contest this year because the state of Texas has been emphasizing personal finance literacy. Some school offer an entire course in personal finance, but at Lutheran North the topic is covered in the general economics course. North's team of Jaeger Butson, Tyler Byrd, Chris Vaughn, and J.C. Duncan will be competing in the state finals at the Federal Reserve Branch in Houston on April 12. All the other schools making the finals were large 5A public schools such as Bellaire, Memorial, and Plano Senior High.

College & Testing Information | | |
JUNIORS -Now is the time to register for the spring administration of the SAT and/or the ACT. The spring dates for the SAT testing are 5/7 & 6/4 and for the ACT testing are 4/9 & 6/11. There are no July or August testing dates. Register online (use the LHN high school code - 443399) at www.sat.collegeboard.com and www.actstudent.org.
Practice PSAT for 9th and 10th graders - Saturday, April 16th. This is an actual PSAT test which will be proctored and timed as a real test. Cost is $10. If you would like to take the test but that is not a good day for you, please contact Mrs. Eickemeyer. |

*LHN is happy to announce all college acceptances. A special red sign is also placed on the student's locker. Please bring a copy of your acceptance letter and give to Mrs. Mary Heath for your file.
**Copies of the letters awarding scholarships, their amounts and conditions should also been given to Mrs. Heath for your file. These amounts are documented and the total amount of the class as a group is published in the senior profile book distributed at graduation.

Congratulations to Senior
Beau Johnson!
Beau took 7th place in TAPPS District Golf with a score of 81.
Beau represented LHN at the Regional State Tournament in Austin this past weekend. Beau was ranked in the top 20 golfers in TAPPS State.

PTL is seeking donations to help in deferring the cost of t-shirts and a DJ for Project Prom. If you donate $100 or more, we will advertise your name, company name, or business on the
back of the t- shirts.
Deadline for donations to receive your name on tee shirts is April 8th.
