McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP Consolidates Offices in Downtown Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (August 31, 2009) - International law firm McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) has signed a long term lease with Maguire Properties to occupy 62,418 square feet at One California Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles.  The deal is valued in excess of $30 million. The Class A+ space is located on two and a half floors at 300 South Grand Avenue.  The new lease enables the law firm to consolidate its Los Angeles attorneys, who currently work out of two downtown locations, into a single location.
"This is superb space that will enhance collaboration between our practice groups and allow us to operate more efficiently and cost effectively for clients," said MLA Chairman Jeff Haidet.  He noted that the new office occupies a fully built-out law firm space with existing improvements as well as space that will be refurbished. By moving from 771 square feet per attorney to 586 square feet per attorney, the firm is realizing a 31 percent increase in efficiency.
"Our Los Angeles office has the region's leading Government Contracts practice as well as a very strong Real Estate group, so it is ideally placed to help clients navigate the business opportunities and challenges associated with the stimulus package as well as potential public-private partnerships for infrastructure development," said Thomas Abbott, chair of MLA's Government Contracts practice.  "Furthermore, our new office in the heart of the financial district is ideally located for both our domestic and international clients."  In addition to real estate finance and development, and government contracts, MLA's attorneys and professionals in Los Angeles provide clients with service in commercial, employment and toxic tort matters, environmental compliance and white collar crime related issues.  Clients include Fortune 500 companies, mid-size companies, major government contractors and non-profit organizations.  In addition to civil business litigation and white collar criminal defense, the office has extensive experience in international dispute resolutions in the Middle East, Europe, Canada and Japan.
The firm will complete construction and move in later this year.  Maguire Properties was represented in-house.
"We commend the McKenna Real Estate Committee for starting the search process well in advance of the firm's lease expiration so they were prepared to pull the trigger on the perfect relocation said Mckenna's Tenant Rep.
Located near the prestigious Bunker Hill District in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, One California Plaza stands 42 stories tall and offers 991,836 square feet of office and retail space. Designed by Arthur Erickson Architects, the building consists of a vertical profile of curving reflective glass walls situated on nearly 3 acres of land.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Mark, When should I begin thinking about looking for new space or negotiating a lease renewal?
Answer: The amount of time required to complete a successful commercial lease varies with the size of the transaction and the status/condition of the potential sites. An evaluation of your real estate objectives and requirements will enable us to estimate your ideal lead time. It is never too early to meet with a Tenant Rep.

It would be my pleasure to provide you with a timetable based on your specific situation.

100 Day Challenge.
Presented By Mark D. Rauch

We all began this year at GO, and all roads lead to a final rendezvous; the difference is what we've done en route.
Goals set, actions taken, and results realized determine if you get to call this year a success or not.  September 23rd is an important date as it marks the 100 day countdown of 2009.  With that in mind, here are a number of questions for you to consider as you progress toward the finish line and call this year a wrap:

1.  What specific results have you achieved so far this year?
2.  Are you healthier, wealthier, and wiser?
3.  Are you winning, losing or just holding ground?
4.  What results are you committed to achieve by the end of the year?
5.  How have you grown and what have you learned this year?
6.  Is there any unfinished business that needs to be tended to in your life?
7.  Are you actively pursuing what's most important on a daily basis?
8.  What habits do you need to change to ensure better results?
9.  What is the key issue that inhibits your ability to perform at your best?

You must live to answer and honor these questions, because when it comes to the last 100 days of the year, every day and everything you do counts.  One thing we all have in common is that we all love a challenge. For some it could be a goal that puts you to the test, an obstacle that says you can't beat me, a belief system that is begging for a breakthrough, or even a mountain that just dares you to climb it.  Whatever it is, you're attitude should be BRING IT ON, as there's nothing quite like a good old fashioned challenge to see what you're made, to push the boundaries and tests your limits as it is ONLY when we overcome these trials that we get to reap the sweetest rewards.

What is a 100 Day Challenge? It's anything you want to challenge yourself to do for your business in 100 days.  The important thing about this challenge is accountability!
Your coaching business will not be built in a day, but it will be built a little bit every day.

The purpose of a 100 Day Challenge is to provide a strategy that will help you focus on tasks that will provide steady growth for your business.  In a 100 Day Challenge you elevate a particular goal to priority status. The idea is that by focusing on one single challenge or goal you can apply attention and activity to a single goal and see measurable results.  The most important phase of the 100 Day Challenge is choosing the challenge.

Here are five tips:

Tip One - Start at the end:
Begin thinking about what you would like to happen in your business. Think about the results that would be the most benficial to you. You might want to fill your practice; or you might have a full practice, so you might decide that you want to create products that deliver your message that you can sell without having to schedule more appointments in your already full schedule.

Tip Two - Choose a single challenge:

The value of a 100 Day Challenge is that a single goal is elevated for your attention and activity. If you choose a goal or challenge that is too big, multifacted, or you might choose several goals, the power of the challenge is diluted because the focus is too broad. We all have things that we know we need to, or should be doing; and some of those things we do everything we can to avoid. I'm not necessarily recommending that you start there. Choose a goal that might be kinda fun as well as challenging. It will be much easier to commit to if it's something that appeals to you.

Tip Three - Choose a challenge that you can commit to:

What would you do today, tomorrow and the next day, if you knew that in 100 days would bring your more clients, sell more product and allow you to work less and enjoy life more? Start with a challenge you can enjoy and be inspired in the journey to achievement. If the challenge is too big, or to boring you might not stick with it. We all have things we we have to but don't want to they're probably going to get done anyway just to avoid the consequences. For this exercise choose a challenge that you can get enthusiastic about.

Tip Four - Stretch yourself just outside your comfort zone:

Choose a goal that will help you to grow in knowledge and in experience. You will be rewarded with greater satisfaction if your challenge stretches you and causes you to push yourself just outside your comfort zone. If it's too easy or it's something that you're already doing you won't realize the full benefit from the challenge. As you stretch to acheive the goal you will be expanding your capability and reach, there is great satisfaction in this growth. Do not underestimate the power of the energy that comes from elevating a goal and focusing your attention and energy on it's acheivement.

Tip Five - Must have a "payoff" and measureable results:

There is not much worse than to do something and have no idea when you've reached success. So, as you set your challenge you should be able to track your activity towards your goal. There needs to be an "Ah Ha" at the end of the jouney...and along the way. If you don't plan small benchmarks of success along the way you might get discouraged and quit before you have a chance to experience the power of the 100 Day Challenge.
