Florida Home Sales Up Nearly 25%
Compared to last year, existing home sales closed in November were 24.4 percent higher than a year ago. Pending sales, those signed but not closed, were even stronger. Sales expected to close within 90 days catapulted 45.8 percent last month from November 2011.
The Naples Area Board of Realtors announced that, locally, median prices increased 14 percent and closed sales were up 6 percent over the same month a year ago.
Statewide, the increase was accompanied by a boost in median price, a combination that Florida Realtors President Summer Greene said is expected to continue through 2013.
In November, half of homes sold for more than $150,000, up 11.2 percent. The average price was $223,301, a 10.6 percent increase.
Closed sales of townhomes and condominium units jumped 18.3 percent in November from last year. Pending sales were up 30 percent during the same period.
Florida Realtors chief economist John Tucillo said the state's housing stock is becoming more valuable across the board. Interest rates also appear to be assisting, with the interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropping to 3.35 percent, down more than half a percentage point from a year ago.

Golf Tip of the Month
 What if your ball is just in the water? If your ball rolls into a water hazard, you will have the option of taking a drop with a one-penalty stroke or try to play it as it lies. If you decide to play the ball, there are a few considerations. First, if half the ball is above the water line, then it is safe to play out. If the ball is totally submerged in water, you have to be careful. There may be some visual distortion caused by the water. You may miss the ball and make matters worse. If you are unsure if you can get it out or you see little benefit from doing it, by all means take a drop and proceed with your next shot. Remember, you cannot touch the water with your club at address. |
