Golf Tip of the Month
Learn to flop.
The flop shot is one where you hit a ball that goes almost straight up into the air and lands softly on the green. This shot comes in handy when you cannot hit a chip or pitch close to the hole. To hit a flop shot, open your stance and place your weight on your front foot. Without using any wrist movement, swing the club from outside to in so that the path of the club slices under the ball. Keep the face of your wedge wide open and swing as if you are hitting a bunker shot out of the grass. If you practice this shot, you will be able to use it when you need it to save strokes.
