3.8% Tax to Start Jan. 2013 Only Affects Some Home Sales
There are several reports of a 3.8% real estate "sales tax" on all home sales starting in January of 2013. In reality, there is neither a real estate "sales tax" nor a real estate transfer tax under any federal law. However, there is a new 3.8% tax that will apply to the "unearned" income for some taxpayers which will take affect January 1st 2013. For individuals looking to sell their home soon who are among the group that will be affected by the new tax, you should consider listing your property very soon so you are able to sell your home by Decembe r 31st of this year. Lee, Charlotte Q2 Foreclosure Sales Fall, Collier Increases
Sales of foreclosed homes in Charlotte County for the second quarter of 2012 dropped 37.44 percent from the first quarter and 44.66 percent compared with second-quarter 2011, according to the U.S. Foreclosure Sales Report released in Auugust by RealtyTrac. Second-quarter foreclosure sales in Lee County fell 10.43 percent from the first quarter and 37.63 percent from second-quarter 2011, while second-quarter foreclosure sales in Collier County were up 6.54 percent from the first three months of 2012, but down 21.60 percent from second-quarter 2011. Nationwide, sales of homes that were in some stage of foreclosure or bank-owned accounted for 23 percent of all sales.

Golf Tip of the Month
 Rid yourself of "chunky monkeys."
A chunked shot, where you hit behind the ball and move it just a few feet, is one of the most frustrating shots in golf. To prevent hitting the chunk shot, make some changes in your setup when you chip. First, stand up taller so that your chipping stroke is more back and through than one that comes from the inside out. The flat swing will often have you striking the ground with the heel of the club first. Second, keep your weight on your front foot. Most important, keep your head and upper body still. If you move backward or forward when making a chip, you will move the spot where the club hits its lowest part.
