Q2 A Winner for Naples Area
The Naples real estate market picked up in the second quarter with a mix of inventory decline, increased sales, and a rise in median sales price, according to a report released Friday by the Naples Area Board of Realtors.
Overall inventory declined at least 12 percent in each price category from the second quarter of 2011, which had 7,208 properties, compared with 6,310 available properties in 2012. The levels are at the lowest they've been in six years.
Overall closed sales increased 4 percent from 2,700 in the second quarter 2011 to 2,817 in the second quarter this year. The median closed price was $253,000 for the quarter, up from $245,000 in the second quarter of 2011. Marco Island is not included in the survey. View the entire report here. |

Foreclosure activity increases in Collier County, steady in Lee County
Collier County tallied 443 foreclosure actions last month, a spike of nearly 25 percent above May and 9.43 percent from June 2011, according to a report released today by RealtyTrac. Lee County fared better with 1,153 cases, a 1.23 percent uptick over May and a drop of 36.9 percent compared with June of last year. Charlotte County had 279 foreclosure actions last month, down 8.52 percent from May and 31.82 percent in June 2011. Florida foreclosures dropped 15 percent in June over May.

Golf Tip of the Month
 Putt it out.
If your ball comes to rest in a greenside bunker close to the pin placement, check your options. A full bunker shot will tend to go too far, while making an easy swing could lead to a host of troubles. If there is little or no lip on the bunker, try to putt it out. You will need sand that is fairly firm and a good lie. Set up as you would for a normal putt, but hover the putter head above the ground. You cannot touch the sand at address or going back. Make a few practice strokes and then sweep the ball off the sand. It should roll out and stop near the hole.
