May Home Sales Up 10 Percent
Pending sales increased 10 percent overall in May 2012 compared to May 2011, according to a report by the Naples Area Board of Realtors (NABOR), which tracks home listings and sales within Collier County (excluding Marco Island). They increased by double-digit percentages in all price ranges, except in the under $300,000 category which increased 6 percent in May 2012 compared with May 2011. The overall median closed price increased 8 percent from $175,000 to $189,000 for the 12-month period ending May 2012. Overall inventory dropped 13 percent from 7,705 in May 2011 to 6,679 in May 2012.

Foreclosure activity drops in Lee, Charlotte and Collier Counties
November foreclosure activity in Southwest Florida's counties dropped, according to the most recent report released by RealtyTrac . Lee County showed a decrease of 31 percent from October, ranking fifth in the state, with 1,326 housing units in foreclosure action last month (one in every 276), compared with 1,922 in October. November's numbers dropped more than 26 percent from the same period last year, Charlotte County ranked sixth in the state, but showed an improvement of nearly 40 percent compared with October; 327 housing units were in foreclosure (one in every 310), down from 593 in November 2010. Collier County's November foreclosures totaled 530 (one in every 267), a drop of nearly 10 percent from October and 20 percent from November of last year.

Golf Tip of the Month
 Pin: In or out?
There is a lot of conflicting advice as to whether you should leave the pin in or out when you are chipping from off the green. A good rule of thumb to follow is to leave the pin in when you are chipping downhill. In this case the back lip of the cup is lower than the front and pin will help to stop your ball near the hole or have it drop in. On uphill or flat ships, you might want to take the flagstick out. A good chip might bounce on the pin and keep it from dropping. On uphill chips, the cup gives you a little backboard. The key is to have the ball rolling slowly as it approaches the hole.
