Naples-Marco Island Residents Among the Wealthiest in the Nation
According to a federal report released by the Bureau of Economics last month, Naples and Marco Island residents are among the richest in the nation coming in 6th place in a national ranking of personal income per capita.
The average income for residents in the Naples and Marco Island metropolitan area was $59,264 last year up from $57,321 the previous year.
An economist who helped compile the report, said residents in the Naples and Marco Island area derive about 53 percent of their income from dividends, interest and rent which is significantly higher than the national average of 16 percent.

Foreclosures Down in Collier County
Home foreclosure rates ticked up in both Lee and Charlotte counties-but were down in Collier-according to RealtyTrac's U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for October. Lee County's 997 total monthly filings were up 2.57 percent from September 2012, but down 48.13 percent from October 2011; while Charlotte County's 221 filings were up 16.32 percent from September, but down 59.23 percent from a year ago. In Collier County, the 430 October filings were down 27.24 percent from last month and down 26.87 percent from October 2011. Statewide, Florida registered the nation's highest foreclosure rate for the second straight month. One in every 312 Florida housing units-or 28,783 overall-had a foreclosure filing in October, more than twice the national average. The October number was up 2 percent from September 2012 and marks a 12-month high, but it's 13 percent below the October 2011 total.

Golf Tip of the Month
 Point the way with your thumbs. A great way to make sure your putts go where you want them to go is to point the way with your thumbs. In practice, take your putting grip and have your thumbs run straight down the middle of the grip. Place a little pressure on the thumbs so that they are in control of the putter while your fingers balance the handle in your hands. Set up about six feet away from a hole and stroke the ball so that when you finish, your thumbs are pointing directly at the hole. You will find that this drill does two things: it helps you keep the putter square to the line, and it helps you accelerate through the ball. |
