Pending Sales Up Sharply in Collier
Pending home sales jumped by 12 percent in third-quarter 2012 compared with 2011, and were up 22 percent last month over September 2011, according to a report released by the Naples Area Board of Realtors, which tracks listings and sales in Collier County, excluding Marco Island. Additionally, the quarterly median closed sale price increased from $175,000 in 2011 to $192,000 in 2012; overall inventory for the quarter was down 12 percent from the same quarter in 2011; and the average days on market was up slightly from 171 days in third-quarter 2011 to 173 days in third-quarter 2012. Foreclosures Up in Collier County
Home foreclosures in Collier County increased while Lee and Charlotte counties showed a double-digit monthly and annual percentage decline in September, according to a RealtyTrac market report. Collier County had 591 foreclosures in September, up 57.6 percent from August and 17.5 percent from September 2011. Lee County had 972 homes in foreclosure proceedings in September-down 22.55 percent from August and 29.46 percent from September 2011-while Charlotte County had 190 proceedings, down 43.45 percent from August and 49.6 percent from September 2011. Statewide, foreclosures were up 2.96 percent for the month and 17.27 percent compared with last year, comprising one in every 318 housing units.

Golf Tip of the Month
 Here is When to putt from off the green.
When your ball comes to rest near the green and you are on the fringe or just in the rough, take a careful look before reaching for your putter. If there is grass behind your ball or a tuft of grass in front of it, you are better off chipping the ball, as it will pop up on thee lies and never get to the hole. Look for sprinkler heads or holes along your line and pay attention to how the grain in the grass is flowing. If the grass is with you (shiny), go ahead and putt the ball. If the grain is against you (dull green), opt to pitch it on to the green. The grain will grab your putt.
