Finally, an updated blog!  Whew!... I've been busy trying to complete the Virtual PE Administrator website.  I'm working with several new PEP Grant school districts who have expressed interest in it!  And while it is also posted on the Blog, here's a quick video (Fox WTAP TV-15) that shows me in action (actually it shows the PE teachers in action, I'm just talking!). Our Mission: There are four general purposes for this growing, monthly publication:
  1. To provide an active forum for sharing valuable and timely information to new and continuing Carol M. White PEP Grant-funded Project Directors, Central Office Staff and teachers.
  2. To help disseminate the "lessons learned" by PEP Grant winners to all interested Physical Education Supervisors and teachers.
  3. To encourage more schools and school districts to implement a comprehensive physical education program model as described in the Comprehensive Physical Education Profile (C-PEP) model.
  4. To recognize innovative schools and districts who are doing great things with and without PEP Grant funding.

Sincerely,

Artie_Kamiya

MikeFoundational Fitness:
Mike Meeteer is a former physical education teacher and coach who has become the nation's leading "Functional Training" advocate! In 2003, Mike's school district received a Carol M. White PEP grant and was able to see tremendous gains through the implementation of basic (and fun) resistance training methods.  The results were incredibly positive!

His entire program became centered on building total-body functional strength, improving cardiovascular health, increasing mobility, and simply teaching students to become better "movers."  Students and athletes were building muscle mass and subsequently decreasing their body fat percentage, and also becoming more resistant to injuries.

Recently, John formed Foundational Fitness, Inc. with another PE teacher, John Ditter.  The mission of this company is to educate, inspire, and transform teachers and students through the progressive implementation of functional fitness activities. Check them out!

- What You Would Be -
Epictetus, c. 50-120

"First say to yourself what you would be;

then do what you have to do.

No great thing is created suddenly, any more than

a bunch of grapes or a fig.

If you tell me that you desire a fig,

I will answer you that there must be time.

Let it  first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen.

Practice yourself in little things,

and thence proceed to greater."
