School's New Executive MBA Program Helps Artists and Athletes Make Career Transitions
More than 40 participants joined the first class of the School's new Miami Executive MBA for Artists and Athletes program, which started Feb. 13. The class includes more than 20 current NFL players from 12 teams and almost 20 former NFL players, including nearly a dozen first-round draft picks.

WLRN Radio - February 23, 2015 - "The Sunshine Economy" program featured interviews with leading real estate developers Ian Schrager and Richard LeFrak, noting that "on the sidelines of the University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference, [the station] sat down with Schrager to hear about where Miami's hotel industry has been and where he thinks Miami is going," and that the station spoke with LeFrak "at the University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference," a conference co-hosted by the School of Business. Listen

 

The Real Deal - February 18, 2015 - The national real estate industry trade magazine published a lengthy article featuring insight from leading developers Ian Schrager and Richard LeFrak, noting the their comments came during the University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference, co-hosted by the School of Business. Article

Miami Herald - February 19, 2015 - A front page business section article on Miami real estate noted that "the city's cultural transformation and its ability to draw wealth from abroad have made it an attractive target for developers, speakers at the University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference [co-hosted by the School] agreed." Article

 

South Florida Business Journal - February 19, 2015 - An article headlined "5 insights from University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference" featured thoughts by numerous of the speakers appearing at the conference co-hosted by the School of Business. Article

 

The Wall Street Journal - February 16, 2015 - The newspaper's MoneyBeat blog featured research by Alok Kumar, the Gabelli Asset Management Professor of Finance, which found that fund managers with  "foreign sounding" names have annual fund flows roughly 10% lower than those with typical American names, even though their performance is the same. Article

 

Knowledge@Wharton - February 12, 2015 - An article about the changing health care system in Cuba included insight from Steve Ullmann, director of the School's programs in health sector management and policy, who noted that the country is well positioned to take a significant piece of the global medical tourism pie, especially as travel restrictions ease in the U.S. Article

 

Miami Herald - February 2, 2015 - An article about efforts by Perry Ellis to return to profitability included insight from Joseph Ganitsky, a research professor at the School and the director of the Center for Business Education and Research, who noted that in the fashion industry, "Competitors have to constantly re-invent themselves, and even then there is no guarantee of success." Article

 

Time - January 20, 2015 - An article about how companies use packaging to convince consumers to buy products at a higher price cited research by Milica Mormann, a research assistant professor, which found that the attractiveness of a product is as important as preference for the brand. Article

 

Miami Herald - January 16, 2015 - The paper's "Starting Gate" blog featured an article about the entrepreneurship who presented their ideas in a casting call for ABC TV's Shark Tank, which heard the pitches at the School of Business. Article
