Latest Trends in Customer Service Revealed as School Hosts World's Leading Conference on Service Research
More than 200 academics and business leaders from 30 different countries were on hand to discuss the latest trends and research in customer service and the service sector at the 2014 Frontiers in Service Conference, the world's leading annual conference on service research, hosted this year by the School of Business.

Exposure to Attractive Objects Makes People More Open to Financial Risk-Taking, Says Study from School's Marketing Department
A new marketing study from School of Business says affiliation with attractive objects causes people to be more open-minded to financial risk-taking. The findings reveal that being associated with aesthetically pleasing things "affirms" people's sense of self and personal values.
School of Business Joins Latin Markets as Exclusive Academic Partner for Private Wealth Forum
The School of Business is the exclusive academic partner for the 2014 Private Wealth Latin America & the Caribbean Forum in Miami, taking place Oct. 23 - 24. The event is a pan-regional wealth management, wealth planning and investment management international meeting for private banks, HNWIs, wealth managers, and family offices.

Universia Knowledge@Wharton - June 10, 2014 - An article about Miami's vital role in the economies of Latin America, published by the Spanish and Portuguese language research portal, included insight from Joseph Ganitsky, a research professor and director of UM's Center for International Business Education and Research. Article


Miami Herald - June 9, 2014 - An article about financial hurdles faced by those pursuing careers as physicians included insight from Steve Ullmann, director of the School's Center for Health Sector Management and Policy, who noted that those who set up their own practices are running their own businesses which "can be overwhelming for physicians." Article

 

The Wall Street Journal - June 6, 2014 - In the newspaper's "The Experts" report, Robert Plant, associate professor of computer information systems, analyzed industry robotics and how current technologies "are being replaced by more intelligent, agile and adaptive robotic systems." Article 

 

The Wall Street Journal - June 4, 2014 - In the newspaper's "The Experts" report, Robert Plant, associate professor of computer information systems, wrote that U.S. companies are considering keeping their manufacturing at home as an alternative sourcing model to sending work overseas, a model "that is increasingly becoming a viable and attractive option for many firms." Latin Trade - June 2014 - An article in the business magazine about executive education and MBA programs for Latin Americans included insight from Anuj Mehrotra, vice dean for graduate business programs and executive education, who discussed the School's launch of The Miami MBA for the Americas program. Article

 

China People's Daily - May 26, 2014 - The Chinese daily newspaper published an article authored by Robert Plant, associate professor of computer information systems, who wrote that the nearly-a-decade old notion among management theorists that "the world is flat" is wrong. Article

 

CNN - May 8, 2014 - An article about new trends in food packaging cited Milica Mormann, a research assistant professor, and her research that explains how product packaging attracts a shopper's attention and how it influences the shopper's decision to buy a certain product or brand. The article quoted Morman who noted that "the big idea is that perceptual processes happen in the brain in parallel with economic value computations and thus influence how economic decisions are made."
