This one is a quickie.

Would you like access to a library full of great lectures and courses on health and nutrition -- for free?

Go on over to NOW-University.com, click on the 'COURSES' link near the top of the page, select 'GENERAL' and choose a course from the drop-down list.

For example, if you wanted to study the course on 'SPORTS NUTRITION' simply select that course, where you'll find a full description of the course...

COURSE OUTLINE:
  • Introduction - An introduction to sports nutrition
  • The Basics - Basic nutrition essentials for the physically active
  • Pre-Workout - Preparing the body nutritionally for exercise
  • Injury & Recovery - What happens to the body during exercise and how to feed it for recovery
  • Endurance - Preparing the body for fatigue
  • Strength & Speed - Nutrition for the more serious athlete
  • Weight Management - Maintaining a healthy body
  • NOW Sports Products at a glance - Product recap
The course can be completed in 30 days or less, depending on the time spent on each section.

I'm currently taking the 'Mini Courses' and studying the one on Vitamin C, in particular.

There is no charge for any of the courses but some require the purchase of a book from Amazon or wherever.

They also have hundreds of free lectures, a LIBRARY section loaded with a quality assortment of articles on a variety of topics such as HEALTHY AGING, which hosts over 100 articles on just that topic, alone.

Finally, there is a section called 'ONE-MINUTE-TO-WELLNESS' with some nice, bite-size videos.

If you are looking for a place to delve into a gold mine of information on health and nutritionals, NOW University offers plenty to keep you busy.

On with it.

Poll:  Systemic Diseases

I was hoping to have at least 1000 responses before closing this poll.  If you have a a minute to answer one multiple choice question, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you, Tom

Should We Drink Fluoride or Not?

This water fluoridation issue flares up from time to time and statistics are always thrown out in support of or against the addition of fluoride to our water. It recently gained national attention when the people of Portland, Oregon went to the polls again for the third or fourth time in as many decades to decide whether or not to fluoridate their drinking (and cooking and bathing) water for the sake of preserving their teeth.

Consequently, I feel compelled to take sides - make a decision, like everybody else, right? So, I'm following the news stories, both pro and con, and I love to read those comments people write.  They get pretty passionate, you know, and after I read enough stories and their accompanying comments I see the same arguments being whipped out, along with their supporting studies, from both sides.

Why is it really there...?

Next Time...

Ahh, here it comes again.  Yet, another study linking common oral pathogens with Alzheimer's and dementia.

You might ask, "What's the big deal, Cornwell?  You'd link every disease known to man with poor oral health..."  Well, yeah, I probably would if I could.  There is something odd about this story, though, and the connection between oral pathogens and heart disease, as well.

Next time.
