3 Reasons To Look Forward to Charlotte

Every year, we look forward to the National Funeral Directors Association's Convention and the opportunity to meet so many funeral professionals in one setting. However, this year we are more excited than ever before! Here are three reasons why:

1) Fantastic Booth Giveaways

This year, ASD will be offering you an exclusive opportunity to take home a new Flat Screen TV! If you sign up to use our service at the NFDA convention, ASD will ship you a FREE 40 Inch LCD Display TV. We understand that it may not be possible to make a decision right on the trade show floor and that is why we are offering an

exclusive 8 WEEK FREE TRIAL of our

service for funeral professionals who are unable to sign up

right at the booth. Additionally, we will be raffling off flat screen TVs and bambookeyboards on the last day of the show. Stop by Booth #3137 to find out how to enter.

LIVE Demos of our Mobile apps

Last year in Chicago, many of our clients inquired about when we would have a mobile application available. At the time, we were putting the final touches on ASD Mobile for the iPhone and were thinking ahead about duplicating its functionality for the Android platform. Now, a year later, we are pleased to be able to demo both of our apps for directors attending the 2012 NFDA Convention. Our iPhone app has been downloaded by over 3,000 funeral professionals and we are just finishing the beta testing stage of our Android app. We expect to officially release ASD Mobile for Android to the Google Play Store the week before the convention. Stop by our booth to see a LIVE demonstration of both of our mobile apps. If you have any questions or suggestions for ASD Mobile, be sure to stop by. ASD Vice President Marty Czachor, who designed our mobile applications, will be available at the booth to explain specific app features.

3) 2012 NFDA Innovation Award

ASD has always placed a strong emphasis on innovation and creativity by working to redefine the traditional role of an answering service. We are honored that the NFDA judging panel recognized the value that our Smart Phone application, ASD Mobile, can deliver to the funeral service community. As one of five companies selected for the 2012 Innovation Award , ASD is looking forward to the Opening General Session on Monday, October 8th, when the official winner will be announced. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our clients and friends who voted for ASD Mobile to win the 2012 Innovation Award. Thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone in Charlotte!

At ASD, we are committed to offering directors the choices and customizations to make monitoring telephone activity convenient. We recognize that at times you may only want to be contacted for First Calls and time-sensitive issues. Staffing levels can vary significantly depending on the number of services scheduled and we realize how difficult it can be to predict your availability. That is why we offer four different check-out options to match your changing needs.

Normal Contact Procedure: There are currently over sixty different call classifications (example: Florist, Plots, Clergy, etc.) that ASD uses to determine if we should contact you for a message.  The customizable criteria lets us know if a call should be dispatched or left in the mailbox for future retrieval. We document each funeral home's preferences thoroughly to ensure the highest level of service. Normal contact procedures can be changed 24/7.

Code Red CriteriaThere are times when you know you will be difficult to reach. You may be making a removal in an area with poor cell coverage, conducting a funeral or attending to other matters that require you limit all distraction. At these times, you can request to be contacted for "Code Red." This category is limited to new first calls that you are not already aware of or issues related to a pending removal. Using a "Code Red' status, when you receive a call from ASD you'll know immediately that the call is regarding a recent passing. All other messages will be left in your voicemail box for future retrieval. Our Mobile Application, Text-Messaging and Email features provide you additional options for accessing other messages at your convenience.

ASD Family-Member Owner, Kathy Kelley, is Honored to be a Featured Member of the Funeral Divas Community!

Kathy Kelley grew up in Springfield, PA with her brothers Marty Jr. and Kevin Czachor. For 40 years, the Czachor family has owned and managed the company ASD - Answering Service for Directors. As a child, Kathy often listened as her parents, Martin Sr. and Barbara, discussed the needs of their clients and brainstormed business strategies. At the time, ASD answered for any business that required 24/7 service . Kathy remembers when her parents began to recognize that funeral professionals required specialized support.

"No one else cared about the quality of the person answering the phone. They just wanted a name, number and didn't want to be bothered unless it was an absolute emergency, but funeral directors were just nicer and wanted to be more available. They really cared about how we treated their callers," Kathy says. "That's why our family decided to start working exclusively with funeral homes."

Funeral Directors are one of the greatest unsung heroes of the world. You shape how society honors life and ritualizes death. This vital role requires commitment, self-sacrifice and true compassion that goes beyond the limits of an ordinary job.
You do not simply work, you live your profession. You must maintain total composure and present a professional demeanor at all times, even when facing unspeakable tragedy. You are willing to sacrifice your own personal and family time to remain available to your community 24/7.

Every day, you see it all-from murders to infant deaths-and then come home to tuck in your own children after witnessing some of life's harshest realities. You must be both the steady hand in public and the empathetic voice behind closed doors. Even when dealing with feelings of your own grief, you continually put the needs of others ahead of your own. You are also an avid participant of organizations and charities in your community. You volunteer for local events, donate to nearby non-profits, organize clothing or food drives and help your neighborhood in any way possible.

This week, our Training Specialist, Lorenzo, handled a call from a hospital employee who was calling local funeral homes on behalf of a family. The woman was looking for information on pre-arrangements, but wanted to go to the next number on her list when Lorenzo did not immediately answer her question.

With a steadfast approach, Lorenzo was able to persuade the hospital worker to leave her call back number and then learned that she was calling about a patient who was very close to passing away.

Lorenzo is this week's "Sensitive Save of the Week" winner.

"ASD Mobile for Android" to manage their ASD account.

The feedback and suggestions we have received have helped us to enhance the app's performance and ensure it is fully functional on all Android devices. We plan to submit the final version of our app to Google the first week of October. Be sure to check back for more updates.
