HAPPY NEW YEAR - THE SHOW IS UNDER WAY!

Now that's a phrase you don't hear too often in August. Oh yeah, isn't that because the CSI fiscal year starts on July 1? Institute is busy with some cool new and ongoing ideas, CONSTRUCT Baltimore is right around the corner, and chapter leaders throughout the Southwest Region are fully engaged in planning for your new year.

Have you checked out the new ways CSI can improve your career when you get involved? Have you considered being a mentor to new young members? September is here - wherever you are in the Southwest, don't miss the show!

EVALUATE, MAKE DECISIONS, RECOMMIT

Jori Smith, CSI, CDT, LEED AP BD+C, Southwest Region President

It's not a bad idea to evaluate occasionally. Review your job, hobbies, relationships, exercise plans. I believe it's important to reinvest yourself often. Evaluate, make decisions, recommit.

Beginning my year as president of the SW Region, I'm using my evaluation of why I choose to be a leader in CSI to plan what our Board will be doing this year. I'm here to effect change. I want to improve communications between building professionals, to reduce project issues, and improve the bottom line for everyone involved. For me, this is all about Education. So, our team will be concentrating on helping our Chapters share the best programs, the current topics, and the most engaging speakers.

Now - ask yourself this: Why you are a member of CSI?...

SOUTHWEST REGION: DID YOU KNOW...?
25% of Region members identify themselves by the occupation codes for Architect or Designer
30% identify themselves by the occupation codes for Product or Manufacturer Representatives
10% identify themselves as Specifiers or Specification Consultants

This means there are a lot of other types of construction professionals in our midst. Check out your chapter's makeup. Are you addressing all of the professional interests?
