Conference Time!
Well, it's again time for the CSI Southwest Region Conference, this year in El Paso, Texas. As a free service (that's just the kind of guy I am), here is some advice on how to convince your supervisor that you should attend. A good source of suggestions is the NAFSA website, from which I offer the following tidbits (follow the link for more):
Show how you and your department will benefit:
- Demonstrate that goals and initiatives in your office will be addressed at this conference.
Develop a winning proposal: - Submit a written report detailing the benefoits of attending this conference. Share the experience:
- When you return, talk to your supervisor and colleagues (host a "brown bag" lunch meeting?) to discuss what you learned.
No grand idea was ever born in a conference, but a lot of foolish ideas have died there.

Michael Miller, is an independent aviation & aerospace consultant representing HDR Architecture. He received his Architectural degree from Texas Tech University.
The presentation entitled "Spaceports and Commercial Space Transportation" provides an overview of the commercial space industry, looks at some of the space vehicles currently being developed, and provides information on spaceport facilities, both existing and planned, including Spaceport America.

Under One Month Left for Downtown Stadium.
Sod Goes In, Concessions Menu Announced for Triple-A Ballpark
Crews at the Triple-A ballpark construction site in Downtown El Paso began laying down the infield sod on Friday, exactly one month before opening day for the brand new stadium. The Bermuda grass being used was grown at a sod farm in central Texas.
Construction is ongoing as workers race to beat the clock and open the stadium on time on April 28, 2014. The El Paso Chihuahuas Triple-A baseball team will take the field at the 7,500-seat ballpark in what will be the first official game in the Sun City.
